Continuing from last chapter 1

Khun Sam would get answers before it was too late..

Khun Sam was already done with her chores past eleven in the evening when mon arrived, just the right time when her stomach started growling once again. she waited for mon so they could eat together and being the excited kid she was, she dashed to their entrance to welcome her girlfriend, a grin decorating her face.

"Welcome home, mon-"

Khun Sam voice died down together with the grin on her face as her brows drew together. she felt the sudden surge of worry and anxiety when what welcomed her was mon's swollen eyes like she cried buckets. No, she definitely did cry buckets. But the question there was what caused it this time?
sam was just becoming even more puzzled than she already was with all the cold treatment and being kept in the dark. And it hurt her. It hurt her that she knew there was something wrong but she couldn't even figure out what she could do to help because she was scared that with just one wrong move, mon would explode and before she knew it, she was gone.

It's now or never. I'll get answers and from then, I'll see where to stand.

sam watched mon walk past her until she reached their dining area and slumped herself on the chair, not even acknowledging her presence. Normally, mon would greet her with her sweets, dimpled smile or a squeeze on her arm and when really lucky, a kiss on the cheek which was very rare and just for special occasions. Although mon had been going on like this , sam still couldn't get used to this and that hurt her. she just wanted all this to end, she just wanted her mon back.

sam could only worriedly stare at mon who looked like the world had fallen on her before she gathered more courage and sat across her, never once leaving his eyes off of him. she couldn't even make something out of mon's face as she kept her head downcast since she arrived. Obviously, something happened while she was gone. Something was wrong. And sam couldn't help not to laugh at herself inside her head because something had been wrong for a while now and when she thought she already knew what it was, she was just proven wrong. sam was already going crazy trying to put the pieces together but she couldn't still come up with an answer. she was no superhero. This was no sci-fi film. she wouldn't know what was running inside her girlfriend's mind unless she opened up to her.

she wanted mon to say something to her. she wanted mon to know she was there to listen as she let it all out so he could let go and be free from whatever that was weighing him down. she wanted her to be honest and trust her. So that if this was all on him, she would know what to do instead of just wondering and walking on eggshells with the fear she might detonate the bomb with just one wrong move.

"mon, baby," called sam to break the silence that was starting to suffocate her.

mon said nothing and sam wasn't even sure if she heard her. she ducked her head a little lower to look at mon face but her fringe was already long enough to cover his face.
"Is the food not good, mon?"
Silence.

"No appetite, mon ? Or have you eaten out with your friends? I'm sorry, I thought..." she stopped when she realized mon wouldn't even hear her and even if she did, she wouldn't even get an answer.

Khun Sam was trying. Just one word from mon and she would leave her be if that was what she wanted. she just needed acknowledgment. she just needed something, so maybe he'd know what she could do. she never liked being kept in the dark and mon knew that well. The past year, they had been working on their communication, but sam never imposed and demanded mon to open up to her. It took time but she was certain mon was getting better the past months, but it seemed they were back to square one.
"babe"

"sam..." mon cleared her throat. "Can we just please eat in silence? I'm tired."
Did she say she would leave her be if she just got a word out from mon? Scratch that. she was more worried now because mon sounded exasperated and she didn't fail to hear how her voice cracked as if she was holding back his tears.

I need to find out what's really going on with her why ain't she ain't talking to me.

"Please tell me what's wrong, mon. Maybe I can help." sam voice was already begging and hurt was evident.

"Nothing's wrong, sam. Just eat so I can wash the dishes and turn in. I'm just really tired, okay?"
Lies.

"Then is it me? Did I do something wrong? Please, babe"
"sam, please."

"No, mon." Khun Sam paused as she bit down on her lower lip that started trembling. she wasn't sure if she could still let this chance pass but she wasn't also sure if it was the right choice. "I think I have given you enough space and time-almost a month-and maybe it's time you talk to me. We have agreed that we will try to be more open with each other, right? That when something is wrong, we will be honest about it?"

mon finally looked at her, but her eyes were narrowed, cold, and hard, void of any emotion except that of anger. "Aren't you really going to let me eat in peace?"
"mon, I just-"

mon slammed her hand on the table that caused her untouched food to drop on the floor, surprising sam that she felt the tears brimming her eyes. mon immediately stood and the dragging sound of the chair against the tiled floor almost hurt sam ears.
"What's wrong?"

Almost a minute of silence passed and both mon and sa. were nailed on their spot. No one dared to talk. No one dared to move. mon was staring into space while sam was just looking at that spot where mon's plate was placed before, trying herbest not to cry.

"I'm going to take a shower," mon broke the silence before turning around to walk towards the bathroom.

sam stood and chased mon, holding her on her arm. "mon, please... please talk to me."
Still nothing.

"Please ,mon ? Let's stop running away from whatever this is..."
mon turned to her and when their eyes met the second time tonight, she knew what was already coming for her.

Coming up next.... what will happen😦😦
