I jumped out of bed, ready for the day ahead. After months of research, presenting, more research and many applications, I would finally be going to Britain! I was supposed to go on a plane to get there. It would be very long, as I lived on the other side of the world.
I ate my cereal slowly. It was only 5 in the morning. I had many hours.
That's when I received a notification on my phone. It said my flight was rescheduled to... 5:45 in the morning?!
I gulped down my cereal, and hastily ordered a taxi. It arrived a few minutes later. I explained that I was about to be late, and the driver drove me to the airport very quickly. Thank heavens for that. I ran the whole length of the airport, arriving at my flight a few minutes before it closed.
A few hours into the flight, I had dosed off, but was awoken many hours later. The plane had crashed. Where exactly, I had no idea. I jumped out, and just ran away.
A cream cat looked at me. "Hello there, who are you and what are you doing on RiverClan territory?"
That was weird. Very weird. Why could I understand this cat? What was RiverClan?
I shrugged. "Excuse me, but I'm Skylar. I'm a human, you're supposed to be afraid of me, like all cats are!"
The cat looked offended and interested at the same time. "Excuse me? Cats aren't afraid! Also, what's a human? And also, you are a cat."
I blinked. I was a cat?! That felt weird.
Minutes later, the cat had brought me to a place I didn't recognise. She presented me to another cat, saying, "I found this loner on our territory, Asterstar."
The cat, Asterstar, nodded. "Alright, you can go. As for you," they said, turning to me, "who are you?"
I said, "I'm Skylar. I was supposed to go-"
Asterstar silenced me. "Enough."
I blinked, then blurted out, "What is this place? Can I join or something?"
Asterstar nodded. "Sure you can. We just need a name for you. How about... Larkspur?"
I nodded. Larkspur sounded cool. I didn't know why the names here were so long and weird. "Thank you."
