I'm running as fast as I possibly can. I see Amilyia and Jonas on my right. I look to my left and see Dustin. I take a look to see where we are. It looks like we are in an unknown neighborhood. We are in Colorado, now. I came from a small town in Oklahoma. I'm an orphan in foster care, or atleast I used to be. My foster parents never really cared about me. I was basically just their excuse why they had a low income. They thought of me as a burden. My true family is my friends, Amylia, Jonas, and Dustin. We are very close. We do everything with, and for, each other. We don't know what we'd do without each other. If you're wondering, I'm Jean Nickles. We are all fifteen.

It's starting to rain. Now, pouring. My pistol keeps trying to slip from my grip, so I grip it harder, keeping my finger near the trigger in case I need to use it.

"We need to take shelter, before the storm hits!" I hear Jonas yell over the pouring rain.

"It's already here!!!" Amylia yells back.

"Well, we aren't making much progress!" Dustin comments. I really hate it when they do this.

"Would you guys just pull yourselves together?!" I demand, "I see a forest! We can hide out there for the night!" there's this awkward silence over us.

We find a cave on this hill, and decide to build a fire. We collect some water from a nearby stream and heat it, so it can disinfect because honestly, the last thing we need is for one of us to get sick and die. The rain finally slows to a stop just as our shadows begin to grow long, but the sun still shines a little high. We have about 3 hours before night hits. I go for a hunt with Dustin, while Amylia and Jonas go to try to find some firewood.

.......

I'm sitting there. I can think of nothing, but how boring this is and how hungry I am. Dustin is just sitting there carving a stick with his knife.

I look up to see a deer walking strait towards us. I jump up and take a shot. I miss. Dustin takes a shot. He hits it! We make a mad dash for the limp deer. We take one more shot to make sure it's dead, and pick it up to carry it back to camp.

We hear a scream, that sounds a lot like Amylia's. We drop the deer and follow the sounds of yelling and screaming.

.......

About two minutes have passed. We find Jonas, shocked, eyes filling with tears, and covered in blood with a knife in his hand. I look ahead and see dead zombies. I look around, but I don't see Amylia.

"Where's Amylia?!" I ask sounding a little more worried than I thought.

"She's... she's..."- He gets cutt off.

"Would you spit it out, already?" Dustin demands a little agitated.

"FINE!!! YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED?!?!" Jonas yells now angry and about to punch Dustin. Jonas gets up in Dustin's face.

"She died! The zombies got her and I had to kill her, or I would die, too!" He said still burning off steam. He storms off into the woods as I fall to my knees, balling.

Dustin runs after him saying,
"Jonas! Hold up! Come on! Well he's gone. Are you okay?"

"I don't know about you, but she was my best friend, Dustin. Do you think I'm okay?" I cry running off into the forest.

"Where are you going?!" He yells.

"To find Jonas! Are you coming?!" I yell back a little annoyed, now.

"Well, yeah!" He reports back.

.......

Two hours have passed and it's almost dark.

"Come on, Jean! We've been at this for two hours and it's getting dark!" Dustin whines.

"Quiet!" I hiss.

"Why?" He asks.

"I hear something." I whisper back. I pull him to the ground. We are crouching, trying to find out what's watching us.

ROARRRR!!!

A bunch of moose run through the woods around us, sounding like thunder. they are coming at us left and right. We had to dodge them, or we would get trampled. The moose are gone now. I got a few scrapes from the sticks on the ground. I look over at Dustin to check on him, and he has just a couple scrapes. I look ahead to see a bunch of broken logs and a limp body. I walk up to it cautiously, hoping it wasn't a zombie. Luckily it wasn't, but it was Jonas.

"JONAS!" I yell, hoping he would respond. Dustin runs to my side. He checks for a pulse.

"He's... dead." He finally says sadily. "Come on Jean. I know it's hard. It is for me, too, but we have to go." He helps me up off the ground, and I wipe my tears.

"Let's go." I say sad, but sternly.
