Description: In a world where supernaturals have taken over the government, with the werewolves at the top and humans at the bottom, life for most was not ideal. It was especially hard for Australia Jennings, as she was the oldest of six and cared for her family as she was the main source of income. Even among the hierarchy there was a smaller one set in place. Depending on where you stood, that would be your career and you couldn't change it. With this system, the people of the kingdom couldn't wait for their dear prince -prince August James- to take over with his mate and be rid of the system.

Alright, so, this story idea is NOT my own and I'll admit to that right now before I get accused of copyright. Ok well the supernatural government takeover was my idea BUT the main part of this -the reason why it's titled 'the gathering'- is not min. It belongs to Keira Cass, the author of 'The Selection Series'. It's a really good series, I'm on book four and I absolutely love it. Although if you're not prepared for a ton of ups and downs, heartbreak, plot twist, and ALOT of pain. I don't suggest reading it lol
Now, in that book it's not supernatural, just fyi, and there are eight 'castes' which is basically the smaller hierarchy. If you're a one, you're royalty, if you're a two hour either like a knight or a model of some sort and so on. Eight is the lowest it goes, so by The Selection's system Australia would be a six or a seven -meaning her family has practically nothing and has to rely on being able to have a lot of children to work as maids and servants and the prince would be a one, though there is basically a system for each city which is also a pack with its own alpha and whatnot. (There's also a system within each pack, so basically even if you're looking at the bigger picture and Australia is a few 'castes' from the bottom, she'd be at the very bottom in her pack)
Moving on to the main topic, The Gathering. More will be explained in the story, but basically it's a way to ensure the royal line continues by bringing women aging from 16-18 from each pack to the palace for the prince to choose a future bride.
Mates do exist, but for centuries the royal family never found their soulmate, so the Gathering was a way to quickly find a bride that would suit the prince (as no princess has been born an heir)
