8 - Quirks

This is a simpler concept for a chapter, just a short and sweet one! I haven't been posting because school and life are busy as heck but I wanted to get back into the swing of things before summer. (Side note, this is also a lil gift as today is my birthday!)

Wilson
——————
He's clingy. Sometimes annoyingly so.

Wilson lived a very solitary lifestyle before entering the constant. Having a person in his life that not only likes his personality, but takes him seriously as a scientist and inventor is something he has lacked, and now that he has it? He's scared to let go.

Thankfully, he's quite self aware, so it's not like he's breathing down your neck all the time. But when's down in the dumps, hasn't seen you in a few days, or he's not lucid, you'll be hard pressed to get him to leave you alone. He clings to you even in his sleep.

Willow
——————
She has no qualms eating burnt food.

It's not like she burns it on purpose, but she has a habit of zoning out when there's fire in the little kitchen set up in camp. But it's never really bothered her, eating overcooked or burnt food (much to Warly's displeasure), so for the first few times she attempts to cook for you, it will be more than crispy.

To her credit, if you don't like this, she tries really hard not to burn any meals she makes for you. But if she's feeling greedy, she will sometimes leave the food on the "stove" longer so she'll be the only one who can eat it. This also means she doesn't mind eating any burnt bits on your plate.

Wolfgang

He has a soft spot for pets.

Wolfgang is usually (reasonably) terrified of the constant's creatures, and while he can easily beat most of them in a fight, that doesn't make them any less frightening to him. However, the kinder, sweeter, smaller creatures that he comes across? He's immediately giving you puppy dog eyes, begging you to let him take it back to camp.

If he could own a thousand varlings, he would, but you only allowed him one so he's content with little "Pupgang". And while he loves this pup to death, every once in a while when you both come across a smallbird or another creature, he's looking at you with those pleading eyes again

Wickerbottom

She's a decent artist.

Granted, she doesn't draw very much; she likes preserving her feather pencils for writing rather than drawing. But if she needs to, wether that be for a diagram or a storage label, she's actually great at accurately depicting items in sketches. Perhaps it's because she has such an attention to detail.

Though, if you ask Wickerbottom, she insists she's not as good as Wes or Wendy. But she's gotten a lot of recent practice with logging dishes in the cookbook or making diagrams to help Wurt learn to read, and she really should give herself more credit. Once in a while, she even draws you. Simply because she can.

WX-78

They keep giving you their old parts when they don't need them anymore.

It's such a strange habit; someone like Winona or Wilson would probably get better use out of these types of things, but you're the one with a good portion of the robot's old gears or wires. Even their old circuits are in there, just sitting there.

WX-78 simply says that they're giving you their guts because they can easily watch over them. Since you're never really far from them, that is. They openly admit to using your storage as their own. But the annoying part comes in when it's completely dark out and they come in to rummage through their spare parts right next to your bedroll.

Woodie

He loves fishing!

It's not even surprising; Woodie is an outdoorsy type, and it's something he's been quite of fan of ever since he was a little boy. It's soothing to him. Lucy enjoys it too, but she's much more restless and mostly likes to just chat away about whatever comes to mind while waiting for the fish to bite.

He's never forced you to join on his little fishing trips, although he does love your company as much as he loves Lucy's. Woodie is very quiet, as usual, but he likes how you and her fill the silence, offering him comfort while he does something he loves. And he always splits the spoils with you, so you never go hungry on these trips.

Wigfrid

She likes having her hair played with.

Not that Wigfrid would ever tell you this, because it's not a vulnerability she should show, in her mind. But you start to notice she seems to subconsciously lean into it when you're picking leaves or other debris from her curly hair every once in a while. The mask slips just enough that her eyes close and her shoulders un-tense briefly.

In her most fragile moments, like in sickness, the petting of her hair can bring her some peace of mind, considering you are close to her. It's not something she'll let anyone do to her, and she doesn't want to speak of it afterwards, but she'll lean in a little closer while you weave little braids into her hair.

Wes

He knows ballet.

Wes is a mime of many talents; painting, theatrics, dying, and dancing! He briefly worked in ballet, so he has classical training in the sport. He didn't continue considering whenever it came time for performances, he'd somehow end up breaking a bone during a variation, but he still likes to dance!

He doesn't expect you to do any dramatic leaps and pirouettes, but he does like to dance with you, even if it's not ballet. Even just swaying or dancing around like fools to no music is enough to have Wes swooning. It's nice spending time with you when he's not being beat up by some constant denizen.

Maxwell

He is an absolute neat freak.

Perhaps it comes from the fact that when he was much poorer, treating his belongings with extra care meant they would last longer, but Maxwell literally will not let his, or your things go into disarray. And yes, he absolutely gives you shit for leaving things sprawled about. He'll pester you until you put things in the right chest.

On the bright side, Maxwell does at least make your shared spaces a lot neater. If you leave your clothes out he'll hang them up so they don't get wrinkles, and he gets his shadows to repair your things once in a while. But he will complain. Yet you signed up for that so...

Warly
——————
He has cold hands.

He's not anemic, but he's just always had poor circulation in his hands. So while he usually runs pretty hot, his hands are usually much cooler. And yes, Warly is that type of guy to put his cold hands onto your exposed skin to pester you. On the bright side, it is quite nice in the Summer, but not so much in every other season.

Sometimes, this is actually a problem for him in Winter, as he'll lose feeling in his hands and become incredibly frustrated that he can't hold a knife steady. But it's easily remedied by you warming them up with your breath and your own hands' warmth. It makes him melt at how intimate it is.

Winona
——————
She's great at mending things.

When Charlie was younger, Winona was constantly mending up her stockings or patching up a torn stuffed animal. It's not something she's particularly amazing at, as she only knows basic stitching, but she can mend clothes with a needle and thread. She just prefers to do it with duct tape, since it's faster and less tedious.

This also goes for machines, but that's a given. If she sees that you've broken something, be it clothes, a thermal stone, an electric doodad, she can fix it easily for you. More likely than not with duct tape, but it'll still do it's job just like it's brand new. No need to thank her, either!
