The last thought of a death
The last thought of the memories
Grasping at the happiness you once had as waves of realization comes through
The realization that they're close to the everlasting and cold grasp of death
Something you may have wished upon yourself finally taking one you care about
In their final moments you try to grasp for their thread of life,
all the memories and happy feelings you shared
The moment you almost forgot or never even saw
The last moments before you realized how close they're becoming
How close to never seeing you again
How close to never speaking to you again
Yes, maybe they're old and awkward now,
But you remember when they were younger and could bring you comfort and happy memories
Memories of being a kid, memories of them sharing candy with you
Memories of them showing you their collection of random and old or used jewelry,
and letting you pick anything out of it
Them complementing your creation and creativity, all while you wish you have held it closer to you
That you had held them closer to you
All wishing you hadn't of been so ignorant and blind to the short amount of time they would be there
