Somehow they had managed to sit down for close to an hour and talk about everything but what was expected. They talked about Castiel's rescue mission from the empty, how they fixed heaven, how Sam had a normal life, Castiel's life, and Dean's life.

"So you're telling me I sacrificed my life for you just to die from a rusty nail?!"

"Yeah, I guess so!" They both chuckled. Due to this being their 3rd round of beers, they're slightly buzzed. Everything that comes out of their mouths is enough to make the other giggle.

Once the laughter died down, Dean thought he'd finally shoot his shot at questioning him, "Yuh' know... the last time we saw each other was pretty intense." He says, giving Cas an anxious glance. His blue eyes quickly go from cheerfully drunk to serious in a matter of seconds. He suddenly remembered why he was dreading this chat in the first place.

"Yeah..." Cas utters in a grim tone.

The weight carried in his voice made Dean question if this was a good time, but he knew if it wasn't now, this conversation would never happen... and so he pushed.

Quietude reigned supreme until broken by, "Cas I--"

"Dean, please, I..." Cas looks away as his bottom lip slightly quivers. "I can't..."

A worried Dean pressed harder on the subject knowing that he needed answers. "Cas I-... I've had a lot of time to think since... then, and I just--"

Stopped again by Cas with glassy eyes, as the angel looks at him as if he is staring into his soul. "Dean, I know what you are going to say... and if I'm being honest I don't want to hear it."

"Cas please-"

"I think I should go, it's getting late."

"Cas!" Castiel stood up from the couch and made his way toward the door. The last thing Dean wanted to do was hurt him, and he is afraid he did just that.

No... no, he can't leave.

Dean looks back after him, and Cas places his hand on the doorknob but stops. He feels a grab of his wrist, as he is pulled away from the exit...
