"Good morning."
I heard a gentle voice calling my name and those two simple words made me flicker my eyes open.
"Gooooood morning," I heard the gentle voice calling my name again and as I woke up, I realized that it was a familiar voice that I had heard many times before.
Those same two simple words were what I had always heard from the same person, and it made my heart swell with warmth and comfort.
I could feel the weight on my bed increase and arms wrap around me in a tight embrace. I knew without looking that it was the same person, and I smiled as I was embraced by their warmth and love.
"Jungkook," I muttered softly, finally opening my eyes to see his smiling face, illuminated by the morning sunlight beaming through the window.
His comforting presence and warm embrace always felt like home to me and I could feel my heart swell with joy and contentment.
"Yes?" Jungkook replied, a fond smile playing on his lips as he looked into my eyes.
"What are you doing here? Why the hell are you not attached to a monitor and in my bed?" I asked, half joking but with a hint of seriousness in my voice.
Jungkook chuckled and replied, "What kind of question is that? I just wanted to see you and make sure you were feeling okay. I'm glad to see you're doing alright."
He gave me a gentle kiss on the forehead before adding, "Now let's get up and start the day, okay?"
I gave him a worried look. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion. I was still trying to comprehend what had just happened, and why he was in my bed at such an early hour.
I opened my mouth to ask him what he was doing here, but he had already started to get up, and I decided to leave the question for later.
He smiled down at me and brushed a strand of hair out of my face, and I couldn't help but smile back at him. He held out his hand, and I took it, allowing him to help me out of bed.
"I'm alright I promise," He continued, "You don't need to worry about me."
When I finally got a chance to look at him, his bandage was clean and his face was freshly shaven. I could see the faint lines of stitches that had been carefully placed to repair the wound he had sustained.
I was in awe of how much he had done for me, and I couldn't help but feel the grateful tears that started to well up in my eyes.
He noticed, and he quickly hugged me close and whispered, "It's okay, I'm here now. Everything is going to be alright." I could feel his heart beating against mine, and I let out a contented sigh.
I felt safe in his arms, and for the first time in weeks, I felt like I could breathe. The worries that had been plaguing me seemed to melt away in that moment, and I knew that I could face anything with him by my side.
He then took my hand again and guided me out of the hospital room.
We walked together in comfortable silence, and I couldn't help but marvel at how he could make me feel so at ease. He opened the door, and the morning air washed over us.
"Wait, where are we even going? It's 4am." I looked up at him with a puzzled expression.
He chuckled softly and replied, "Breakfast. I figured since we've been stuck in this hospital for so long, we could use a change of scenery."
He gave me a warm smile and added, "Plus, I thought it would be nice to have breakfast together. Real food for once so I snuck into the kitchen and got us some food."
I was shocked, standing there in disbelief. I couldn't believe what he had done.
"Jungkook, why are you stealing? You could have just asked for it."
"It's not stealing," Jungkook said, looking at me with a gentle smile. "It's more like... borrowing. I figured since we're both stuck here, it wouldn't hurt to enjoy a nice breakfast together. I promise I'll make sure to put it back later."
I sighed and shook my head in disbelief. He always knew how to make me feel better, no matter the situation.
"Okay, let's go then," I said, smiling back at him.
We got up and made our way out of the kitchen, me carrying the stolen breakfast and Jungkook with a mischievous grin on his face.
We stepped out of the hospital and the morning sunlight warmed our faces. The scent of freshly cut grass and the sound of chirping birds filled the air.
I breathed in the fresh morning air, feeling the tension of the past weeks slowly melting away. I glanced up at Jungkook, who was smiling down at me, and I couldn't help but feel a wave of gratitude wash over me.
Finally we found the park just outside the hospital and found a spot to sit and enjoy our breakfast.
As I opened the lunch box, I was met with a delicious spread. There were freshly made sandwiches, fruits, and even a thermos of hot tea. I couldn't believe my eyes, Jungkook had gone out of his way to steal us this.
We ate in companionable silence, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the park.
After we finished our breakfast, Jungkook suggested that we take a walk. We started to walk around the park, and soon enough, we were talking about Bam, Jungkook's beloved dog.
He told me stories about the mischief Bam got into when he was younger, and how he had grown into a loyal and loving companion.
He talked about how he missed Bam, especially when he was stuck in the hospital. I could tell that Jungkook really loved his dog, and I was glad that he was able to find a way to talk about something that he was passionate about.
It was a nice change of pace from the hospital, and I was thankful for the moment of respite.
After we finished, Jungkook packed up the lunch box and we made our way back to the hospital.
The lunch we had outside was a welcome break from the monotony of being in the hospital. We were grateful for the chance to get away, even if it was just for a short time, and the fresh air and change of scenery was a much-needed break from the oppressive atmosphere of the hospital. . . .
