Adele opened the door and stood in front of Dex and pastor Lisbeth.
"So it's just you? Why weren't you answering?" She asked him.
"I wondered same." Ps Lisbeth replied, causing Adele to have a second and proper look at her before recognizing it was the pastor from the church Jerry had invited Ernest, and he had invited her.
"Pastor? Oh hi! I'm so sorry I didn't recognize you at first."
"It's fine my darling. Is Nella in?"
"Oh yeah she is. Pardon me." She stepped aside to let them walk in. But Nella had left the living room.
"Where is she?" Dex asked, realising it was an empty living room.
"I left her right...here." Adele replied with a pause, noticing it wasn't just Nella that was gone, but the bottle of whiskey too.
"She isn't in her best of states actually. I'll check in her room. One minute." Adele to the room and knocked on the closed door.
"Nella?" She called.
"Adele I don't want visitors. I'm not even in the slightest mood." Nella replied and she could feel the weight of sobs in her voice.
"It's just Dex and..."
"Precisely not him! Adele please!" She yelled.
"Ok, ok, fine. I'll just... tell them to...drop by another time then." Adele retreated back into the living room.
"Well, like I said earlier, her mood is rather sour today, and she doesn't want to see anyone." She reported.
"What's wrong with her? Why has she been acting some type of way with me lately?" Dex asked.
The women could see the frustration in his look when pastor Lisbeth pacified him with a squeeze on the shoulder.
"Take me to her. I insist." Pastor Lisbeth stood and followed Adele's lead.
"Nella? Child it's me, pastor Lisbeth. Open up, will you?" She knocked in turn and waited a little while before the door flung open in her face, causing her to stand staring at a rather depressed Nella.
"Pastor." She called out gently, as if it should relieve her of some of the burden. She looked weak and battered.
"Honey. What is going on with you?? Why are you looking like this??" Ps Lisbeth pulled her into a hug and stepped into the room with her, causing Adele to join Dex in the living room again.
Ps Lisbeth led her to her bed and they sat."I visit you for my very first and this is the welcome I get? You're drinking? What's happening with you, hon?" She asked and with no second thought, Nella fell into her arms, sobbing hard.
"It's difficult, pastor. It's so hard. There's so much anger everytime I look at him. He led my mom to death! He did that!" She cried like a baby.
"Hush. Calm down, honey. Calm down." She stroke her back lightly.
***
Adele slumbered into a couch right beside her, gasping uncontrollably."What's going on with her?" Dex asked.
"I don't know. I really don't know, but apparently it has something to do with you. So I should be asking you what happened." She replied.
"Me?? Me!!" He goggled.
"Yeah. From the look of things."
"I'll tell you what happened. The day she assigned you to cook, she left that morning with all the exhaustion mustered up in her entire being, and went to work. Didn't see her for the rest of that day, only for her to avoid my calls the next day. When I finally coincidentally see her, she's snobbish. She won't even look at me in the face. So you tell me. What exactly did I do to her?"
