Why did you do that Hope. You should've just apologised.
Hope stormed into her room and slammed the door with her magic before she sat angrily on the edge of her bed. 'Controlling myself' what do they even mean?
Hope wasn't a very known person at the school, and usually if she was, it was for something she wasn't proud of. She been told she was rude sure, quiet, of course.
Hope had wanted this year to be different. She'd been friends with Cleo for over 5 years and had become friends with Landon over the last year or so. Both had helped her with so much in her life and her past. Landon being around used to make her feel safe...comforted even.
However it was a few semesters ago that the two of her friends got together. Of course Hope knew the adjustment wouldn't be easy, and she knew change was pretty much unstoppable.
First: it was Landon turning Cleo into a vampire. He'd said their love was eternal so they should make it stay that way. Then each of her friends became distant.
Landon no longer checked on Hope, he didn't comfort her, didn't hold her, and only spoke to her properly if it was some way of boasting about his thriving relationship.
As for Cleo, the two never spoke. Cleo would smile if they saw one another in the hallways. And of course Hope would be allowed to sit with her. But if there were ever any sort of comment made to Hope, it had to be a judgement. A way to make her feel embarassed.
Maybe Hope was overreacting. Maybe she has too high expectations of her friends. But she had wished for someone to care about her just a tiny bit.
And when no one gave her the ounce of love she craved, Hope took to other methods of coping. Drugs. Drinking.
And that's where her life was at now. She sat numb on the edge of her bed after the emotions of her day caused her body to feel limp.
Her hand reached for the bottle under her bed and she drank. She drank so much she could feel the room start to spin. Her heart would beat so much until a haze of music was thumping in her stomach - causing it to spin too.
It felt like the aftermath of a roller coaster. You forget how scared you were and the racing anxiety in your chest. And all your emotions become peaceful, excited, effortless. The only parts you remember being how amazing it felt.
It felt amazing.
Hope left her room, her walking slightly off balance, but she was almost perfect at making herself seem sober. She was in search of Josie.
It was around 7.30pm and Hope knew Josie would be in the library studying. Of course finals were coming up, so it wasn't completely unreasonable to be working at this time, but Hope knew even months ago Josie would be here until the dead of night.
It wasn't like Hope knew Josies schedule or anything, she was just a person Hope liked to take notice to. Her person was always a sort of magnet to Hope.
Through the old mahogany door, clearly in need of replacing from its age, a small light shone over the girl and her papers.
Hope noticed the girls leg bouncing slightly as her brow furrowed. A few of the stitches in her sweater come undone from pulling at them.
Hope approached quietly, the alcohol still making the room tilt but she ignored it.
"Josie," she whispered nervously.
Her hair now moved from in front of her eyes, leaving her face to be revealed to the girl across from her. Hope's breath paused slightly before she took another step toward her.
