(Note: I've never written anything before so pls be nice. I don't own any of these characters all rights go to Neil Gaiman and Terry Prachett. Oh and I don't know where I'm going with this sooo... yeah.. anyway! Enjoy!)
Neither of them dared to say a word for fear of breaking the somewhat comforting silence. After all they had been through, the quiet bus ride back to Crowley's flat was just what they needed. The calm before the storm if you will.
They sat knees brushing, arms touching, and hands entangled together, holding onto each other for dear life. Not a word was uttered between the two of them but somehow, they knew what the other was thinking. When one of them spiralled into despair, a gentle squeeze of the hand or a nudge of the elbow was enough to distract them and pull them out of the dark thoughts of what Heaven and Hell could do to them.
Exhaustion and fear are not a good mix and if Crowley didn't get his hands on a drink or have a much-needed nap soon, he was sure he was going to lose his mind. He needed anything that could distract him from the dreadful images flashing through his mind. Scared to leave Aziraphale alone in the world of the living for the kingdom of the dreaming, he fought the sleep taking over his body, his fluttering eyelids.
Aziraphale, on the other hand, was desperately trying to find a solution that would spare them both and not end in their permanent discorporations, death, annihilation, extinction, extermination or, whatever you wish to call it. He had a pretty good idea what their ex-respective sides had planned for them. Cogs were turning in his brain, slowly putting together a somewhat plausible plan. He would talk to Crowley about it later so they could figure out the specifics but for now, it was nice to enjoy a little tranquillity.
