Aki hastily cranks up his engine and backs out of [Y/n]'s driveway. He was headed to an emergency meeting with the Shateigashira to discuss last night's events. Aki assumed his boss was angry as hell and had probably threatened the man who called him, evident by the state of panic his underling was in when he called. The Shateigashira making a personal visit to address this meant it was a big deal and word had traveled higher up in the organization, all in less than 12 hours. He knew he'd have to deal with the fallout of last night's shooting at some point but didn't expect to have to do it this soon.
Admittedly, he was distracted and not in the best state of mind to attend to this. He would have much rather been attending to something... or someone... else.
All Aki could think about was [Y/n].
Her witty quips at him.
The way she smelled like cocoa butter and vanilla.
The bounce of her full crown of curls whenever she moved.
How she teased him and let the light shower her naked body.
The feel of her soft tongue and plush lips.
Even her frustration when he left.
Aki was enthralled by everything about her. His attraction to her was indisputable and it pissed him off that the moment they shared was cut short because of gang business.
He left the details of why he was leaving to himself. He didn't want to worry [Y/n] too much. After all, this wasn't her problem and she'd suffered enough secondhand trauma. It would be best to let her rest a little. This was part of his way of protecting her—just like they agreed.
I hope she knows I wouldn't leave her like this unless it were important... I wonder if she's okay.
He speeds to his destination, expertly weaving through traffic and hoping to handle this and return to her as soon as possible. Within less than 15 minutes, he arrives at a seedy warehouse near the outskirts of town. He parks at the back of the building, turns off his car, and collects himself, preparing for what he might be about to walk into. Aki kept a small revolver locked away in his console for times like this, which he grabs, loads with several bullets, and conceals in the pocket of his hoodie before stepping out of the vehicle.
Better to be safe than sorry.
His footsteps stride intently to the back entrance of the building, which isn't guarded by any muscle. Instead, it is locked by a special passcode only high-ranking members were privy to. He looks over his shoulder to make sure he isn't being watched, then quickly punches in the code. A familiar voice comes through the speaker.
"I thought you'd never show up, Kyodai," one of Aki's soldiers voiced. This one frequently worked as a bouncer at the host club, was an accomplished gambler, and was a drug runner if necessary.
"I don't plan on being long."
"Ha. I'm holding you to that, boss." The man on the other side of the speaker opens the door and Aki steps through, taking note of his surroundings briefly. There are several other Yakuza members spread throughout the warehouse. Aki recognized some of them, but others didn't seem so familiar. There was an array of criminal activities happening around him—counting an obscene amount of cash, taking inventory of black-market items, wiping weapons, and packaging drugs. And the worst part? Law enforcement wouldn't bother raiding the place because many of them were on the gang's payroll. Aki didn't agree with all of the Yakuza's activities, but the organization took him in when no one else did. He felt indebted to them.
