On the corner of South Elmer street there was a family that lived just as happy and peaceful as ever. Now they weren't perfect but could damn well be confused with a Family straight out of a magazine. The Jackson's have lived here for almost 9 years and the neighborhood knows and loves them a lot. Not many new neighbors come to this neighborhood, but when they moved in, it was like the entire block was family.
At the moment it was 8 in the morning and the family was getting ready for work and school. Devon was the oldest son of Tina and Kaysean Jackson and was a senior in high school, ready to graduate. He always was sort of the shy kid who had a crush on one of the most popular girls in school. Keisha Sumter. He knew she would never want him, but he couldn't help but try. Aniya was Devon's baby sister who just turned 3 years old. She went to the daycare up the street during the day while Kaysean worked as a broker downtown, and Tina worked as a Science Professor at the local community college.
At the moment Kaysean was sitting at the table with Devon and Aniya reading a news paper when Tina walked down.
T: Morning everyone
D&K: Morning
A: Monin mama!
T: Good morning baby! (kisses baby)
Tina crossed to the other side of the kitchen and kissed her husband and Devon. She then grabbed herself a cup of coffee and went to the foyer to grab her belongings for classes that day.
D: Hey ma hold up! (jumps up) You think you can let me stay after for school today?
T: Ugh, Devon what did I tell you about asking me things late in the morning before school?
D: Sorry ma, I just thought you would say no.
T: And your right, no. Now come on lets go.
D: But ma me and my friends are supposed to watch the geek squad from the science department launch their Solar3000 in the middle of downtown central today. Its gonna be epic!
T: (stares)...
D: ..And safe?
T: Devon.
D: Ma pleeease! At least its something constructive. I mean its not like im doing drugs.
K: He's right honey come on we don't let the boy do much just let him have a good time today. I mean hey its Friday come on.
D: Yea ma its Friday come on!
T: Watch it.
K: Okay hey if it makes you feel any better you know you and I have our thing this weekend okay, and with the baby at your sisters Devon could just hang with his friends this weekend ya know, uh stay with that uh friend of his..uh what's the name son?
D: Oh Kyle!
K: Kyle. Yes and im sure his parents don't mind they are always together. I will give him a few extra bucks for the weekend what do ya say buddy?
D: Ah Yes dad! (slaps hands) Mama..please (puppy dog eyes)
T: *smacks lips* Oh don't you give me that.
Tina then turned her attention to her husband who happened to be making the same face. He grabbed her hand and kissed it, making her give in to their begging.
T: Okay now we're all late for school and work. Kay get the baby.
K: Alrighty
D: Aight ma see you on Sunday. (kiss on cheek)
T: Bye boy.
*School Bell Rings*
W/v: Alright class get in your groups for your final project.
All the students did as instructed and got into their groups. Devon made his way to his friends who fortunately were in his group. His friends Kyle, Steve, Rodie, and Jess. She was the only girl. They had all been friends since elementary and still been kickin it together. They called themselves the Bomb Squad, no one knew why but It was their thing. So they stuck with it.
S: So is this gonna be the coolest project or what guys!
All: Yea!
R: Heck yea, we got all the hot parts that no one has, the crew! We some cool peeps.
J: Ro, no one says peeps anymore.
R: Well maybe we should bring it back
J: (puts hand to mouth) No.
D: Well im just ready to get to this rocket launch tonight!
KY: So your mom let you go? Awesome. You stay with me?
D: Yep. (fist bump)
S: Well guys looks like this Senior year is gonna be perfect. And its only the first day of school.
R: More like the first day of Cool!
Everyone looked at Rodie with the same look. Then they all looked at each other and shrugged.
S: Okay lets go with that.
