"KAT!" It's Emma, but she sounds upset. No, not upset. Anguished. Like she's lost someone she loved.
"Emma, are you okay?"
"It's Hermione. She's-"
"Dead?"
"No, not dead. But she may as well be. We were right. I was right. It's a basilisk. And it's not hiding anymore."
"What happened to her?"
"Petrified. So is Colin, Nearly Headless Nick, someone named Clearwater, and someone else named Justin."
"All in the hospital?"
"Yes." Emma says.
"Wait. They don't know it was a basilisk. Who do they think did it?" I don't know why I asked. I know.
"It's Harry. They think he did it."
