"Mom, can you tell me a bedtime story please?" Every night before bed, my mother would tell me a bedtime story.
"Soon your mother won't be able to tell you bedtime stories because you will think you're too old for them," My dad commented, pulling the soft black cover over me and giving my forehead a kiss.
"What? No way. I want mom to tell me stories every night." That earned a chuckle from my mom, and she sat down on the bed beside me.
"Alright, I will tell you about how a fallen angel fell in love with a human," She smiled and tucked the blankets under me. "Now let's see. Oh, I know just where to start. Now, up in heaven angels are given a certain human that they must protect from things that aren't from this world that harm us. They have 3 chances to save their human without giving away their cover. Well this certain angel came down to earth and had a boy to protect, but things didn't go quite as planned and she fell in love with the human. She lost all her angel rights and was therefore an outcast, but she had what she wanted and they had a wonderful life," She smiled and touched my nose gently. I giggled and yawned.
"Mommy, are angels real?" I asked. She looked at me and tickled my sides before kissing my temple.
"It's just a story. Now why don't you get some rest? Your father and I are taking you to the beach tomorrow and if you're lucky, I will teach you how to surf," She got off of my bed and went to turn off the light. "I love you Valkyrie," She closed my door, and I was left to sleep.
