Cali went home with a smile. 'Maybe this wouldn't be so bad.' Cali thought with a gleam in her eyes. She made Varsity middle hitter, new friends, and got invited to the Lacrosse game by Garret Vernon. When she stepped through the front door however, that all shattered at the sight of William and Evelyn talking to their wedding coordinator, Janice Evans.
"Cali! Perfect timing! We were just going over the bridesmaids dresses. What color do you want to wear?" Evelyn's chipper voice was like nails on a chalkboard.
"Black." Cali smirked and stomped up the staircase before her dad could chastise her.
"Hey Kylie!" Cali jumped onto the bed next to Kylie, the two of them knocking into each other. "How was school?"
"Okay I guess. I made some new friends. They were telling me everything there is to know about Halstrom," Kylie went on enthusiastically, "So the "it" girls practically run the school and are envied by everyone else. Plus they're only juniors and even senior girls worship them. It's nothing like New York! The head girl is Blair Claremont. Apparently she comes from a long line of money, she's a top notch bitch too. She's always with her posse; Paige, Natalia, and Genevieve, who are just as stuck up as Blair.-
"Wait, Natalia Reznikov and Genevieve Lexington?" Cali interrupted.
"Yes, you know them?" Kylie asked in surprise.
"Yeah, Natalia is my volleyball captain and Genevieve has the locker next to mine. By the way, I need to text her."
Cali whipped out her phone.
"You have Genevieve Lexington's number?" Kylie gasped.
"Yeah, its not a big deal." Cali laughed and went into her room and closed the door in Kylie's baffled face.
'Hey Genevieve, its Cali'
'Omg u finally txted! We need to hang'
'Definitely'
'Wat r u doing tomorrow? U should go shopping with me'
'I'm actually going to the lacrosse game'
'I can go shopping anytime, mind if i tag along?'
'That would be fantastic, I actually didn't have anyone to go with'
'Yay! See u tomorrow'
Cali plopped down on her bed, this was going better than she imagined.
"Cali? We need to talk." William's voice was stern.
Cali let out a groan,"Come in."
"Look, I know you don't like the idea of someone else replacing you're mother-
"It's not that, no one will ever replace my mom. You're just marrying an air-headed bimbo who is half your age!" Before Cali registered what slipped out of her mouth, William had slapped Cali straight across her face. It immediately reddened and throbbed. Cali lifted her hand to her cheek gingerly, the tears pooling in her eyes.
"Cali I'm so-"
Cali ran out of the room before he could finish.
"Will? What happened?" Evelyn watched teary eyed Cali storm out of the room.
"Will baby, did you hit her?"
"I-I didn't mean to."
Evelyn gasped and placed her hand over her heart, fingertips grazing her diamond necklace.
"You should have heard the things she said about you!" William admitted furiously to defend himself.
"That does not make it okay. Not in my house William." Evelyn huffed and stomped away.
'Women.' Richard shook his head.
