Johnny's P.O.V.
I panted as I ran to the park. I looked around for an sign that Ponyboy made it this far. I saw a spot where the dirt looked as though it had been kicked up. I ran over and looked closer. This was probably where the scuffle happened. I looked around and saw footprints. I walked with them and into the road. I saw skid marks as if someone had sped off. I ran back to the Curtis house and told Darry everything I had found. We hopped in the truck and drove to the road. "There. Follow them. They might lead us to Ponyboy!" I shouted. Darry followed the skid marks and I thought they would never end. We went on for hours. We weren't even in town anymore. I sighed and stared out my window. "Damn it!" Darry shouted. "What?" I asked. He pointed and I realized the skid marks ended. "But. We're still in the middle of nowhere." I said. "Well I guess they realized they were leaving a trail." Darry muttered. Darry stopped the truck and I hopped out. "Johnny. You're not gonna find anything." He said. I looked around the road and on the road for anything. I walked back to the truck defeated. As we drove home I broke into tears. "Johnny. We'll find him. Don't worry." Darry said. "No we aren't. We don't have a clue where he is and we can't even file a missing person's report!" I shouted. The arguing went on forever and I just got even more upset. "I just don't see why you can't get it through that damn head of yours that we'll find him." Darry said. He looked out the window as I looked forward. "Darry look out!" I shouted. Darry looked at the road and swerved into the ditch. I shouted before it all went black.
