I sigh as I look at the heart monitor. It was almost dead, it barley beeped, except once in a while to remind me that the frozen bodies were indeed still alive. It amazed me, the fact that they were alive and over 300 years old. I was assigned to watch over the crew of the S.S Botany Bay and monitor any unusual changes in their heath or appearance. It wasn't my dream job, when I graduated from Star Fleet Academy I expected adventure, flying through space and fighting bad guys along Kirk. Sadly he was assigned to The Enterprise while I was stuck here. But we kept in touch.
"River. Your shift is over, you're free to go home." the intercom boomed, causing me to jump. I stand up, straighten my dress, and check out of the office.
"Hey, we need you early tomorrow, someone dropped their shift." My manager, Marie, said as I heading out the door. I nod in response and head to the outside world. 'Great, just what I need. Another early Saturday morning of watching frozen people.' I blink and cover my eyes with my hands as I walk into the sunlight. It was unusually bright for London, but I would rather have sunlight than more rain. I join the crowd of people making their way around town. The streets haven't been as busy ever since that gigantic ship crashed in London. The "Ship Crasher" is still MIA and everyone has been on watch. He was a killer, and he has been hiding in this city for about 2 weeks.
I continue to walk when someone rudely rams into my shoulder. Ouch!
"Hey buddy!" I yell as he continues to run. I hear some people shout as he runs past, running into them too. 'Oh heck no.' I think as some Star Fleet Officers run past me too, in pursuit of the guy who rammed into me. I join the officers in the chase, this was the most excitement I have had all day, and I wasn't going to let it slip away. I see the unknown man run down an alley and decide to take a short cut, where he was headed had a dead end, and my short cut would get me their before the officers. I run down the streets past a couple stores. Apologizing as I ran into a few civilians in the process. I take a sharp left as I run down my alley. I see the man run right past me just as I turn down one of the alley ways. 'Dang he is fast.' but I was right behind him. The officers were nowhere in sight, but that wasn't going to stop me. All of a sudden the sun disappeared and I was in the shadow of a gigantic ship. I stopped dead in my tracks as I read the name- S.S Botany Bay. This wasn't some random guy I was following. This was Khan, the criminal who crashed the ship into London. He swiftly ran into his ship. The door was open. 'Don't do it...' My feet begin to take me towards the door. 'River don't be stupid' but my body wouldn't listen. I was inside the ship. The metal door closed behind me with a THUD. I was trapped in a spaceship...with Khan.
Khan was nowhere to be seen. I needed to take these few moments to hide before he found me. I take in my surroundings, It was built just like the enterprise but in all grey. I run down one of the many halls, hoping to find a closet to run into, but I found nothing. I stop to take a breath assuming I had put some distance between me and Khan. I hear foot steps, they sounded far away. 'Good, I've got some time.' I thought to myself. I put my hands on my knees to help catch my breath. All of a sudden I feel something whip me around, giving me whiplash. A hand covers my mouth before I even had time to scream. My eyes were shut out of fear. I could feel the heat of another body pressed up against mine. I slowly open my eyes and see a pair of piercing blue eyes glaring back at me. He had me pulled extremely close to him, to close for my comfort. I try to squirm away but he wont let go.
"How did you get on my ship?" He hissed. He shoved me against the wall, placing both hands on my shoulders so I couldn't run, but I was able to talk.
"I saw the off-officers run after you...I decided to follow you." I manage to whisper. He let out an animal like growl, sending shivers down my spine. He slammed me against the wall, making me fall to the floor as he took a couple of steps back. I let out a small whimper, that was a little painful.
"I can't have a civilian on my ship." He growled as he came back at me, to finish me off I assumed. I threw my hands in the air to block the blow.
"WAIT!" I yelled, this made him pause. "I-I worked with your crew, you want them back right? I ca-can help you get them." I said. He looks at me and tilts his head, as if he was deciding if I was worth the trouble. He bent down to my level so we were face to face again. He grabbed my jaw and pulled me up to my feet, causing me to let out another cry of pain.
"Im going to let you live, only-ONLY because I need you to get to my crew. But after that. I will end you." He spat. I nod as best as I could with my jaw being held. He let go of my jaw and walked away. I decide that it's a hint for me to follow.
As we walk down the corridors in silence I finally get a chance to see what he looked like. He was tall, about 6 feet. He was wearing a long silver trench coat, and his hair was jet black and slicked back, but some pieces had fallen when he slammed me into the wall. He stopped and I was so caught up in looking at him that I ran into his back. He grunted and gave me a glare that could kill.
"This will be your room." He hissed as he put in the security code to open the door. 'Room? More like a cell.'
"Ill be waking you up at 6AM..Get some sleep." He said as he walked away. I walk into the room and the metal door shut behind me with a THUD. The room was dark and all metal with nothing but a twin bed and a small bathroom. I'm trapped on the S.S Botany Bay, with Khan. And there is no way out.
