it took a while before luca was finally able to get y/n past their front door. after several curses and childish flailing, he managed to step inside the house without making much noise, his steps quiet and his whole body on edge.
his head was reeling with different scenarios on the drive back. leaving the hangout without saying anything and coming back an hour later, carrying one of his friends' little sister ㅡ who, not to mention, was drunk ㅡ was not something that would particularly paint him in a good light.
around this time, mrs. rias was likely already home too, which was already bad enough on its own, but somehow luca was significantly more frightful of how mysta was going to react. if he had to encounter either of the two when he got back, he would gladly take the former.
much to his luck, the hallway and living room were both empty, indicating that the boys were probably still lounging inside the entertainment room. however, the kitchen lights were on, and not long after did mrs. rias crowd in on him like a hawk, her eyes blown over in a confusing mix of vexation and concern.
"goodness, is she alright?"
"she's fine, mrs. rias," luca assured her and bent down a bit so he could adjust y/n up his back. he tried his best to cover her face from her view, just enough so the situation wouldn't be as obvious. "just a bit tired, is all."
it didn't look as if mrs. rias bought it, but she simply pursed her lips and nodded back, her gaze steady on her daughter.
turning his back away from her, luca gave her a small smile of acknowledgement before moving past her, his footsteps muffled by the carpeted floor. "i'm going to take her upstairs."
a few paces up, mrs. rias had called after him and asked if he needed anything, but luca kindly waved her off and reassured her he was fine; that she didn't need to worry because y/n wasn't that heavy, and that he'll just drop her off her room and immediately go back downstairs.
the door to her room swung open without much protest to his intrusion. stepping inside, he moved past the light switch and headed towards the bed tucked at the corner, the comforter still messy and her pillow strewn on the floor.
once she was safely tucked under the covers, luca straightened to his full height and tilted his head a bit. stretched an arm, rotated a shoulder, and let out a low groan of relief. he'd been carrying her around for half an hour, give or take.
as if the realization of where he was had suddenly dawned on him, his eyes curiously flickered around the room. several graphic posters were put up on the walls, along with artificial decorations and picture frames. a large bookshelf took up most of the space on the opposite wall and was filled with stacks of books and memorabilia, and her desk was positioned right in front of the window.
this was the first time he had ever been in her room.
somehow, he felt like he wasn't allowed to be in here, so he quickly averted his gaze and made a move to finally head back downstairs when a hand pulled him back.
