I continued to sit there thinking to myself..."Why the hell am I in here?" But another part of me thought..."Man he deserved that shit!" But either way...I was doing the time for what I did. The only thing I could seriously think about now was getting the hell out of this place. My inmate smells like five skunks crawled on him and died, the toilet is backed up and the sink is broken. The only smallest piece of joy I had was a small picture of a Playboy model in a hot ass pink and blue bikini hanging on the wall. She had long silky hair that just looked perfect. And she had a ass that just-
Aye man I know you hear me!
Fuck....nigga interrupting my fantasies and shit. Brandon what the fuck you want man? I told you you're not getting my toothpaste man go buy som-
Nigga I don't want ya damn toothpaste. I said the warden doin inspections today so you better hide that shit. (Pointing at my hand made pocket knife) I still don't understand why you still got that thing when we gettin out in a few weeks. Yo dumb ass be askin for trouble.
You never know when somthing might happen man.
I understand but it's too risky to have that around. I'm just looking out for ya. I know you remember what happened the last time somebody had one during inspection.
How could I forget? We never saw him again. Can we not talk about this anymore? I'll handle it.
(Brandon didn't mean any harm. He was just looking out for me like he said. That's what he's always done since we met. I had no knowledge of what jail was like but Brandon? That boy knew the building like the back of his hand. One day it was lunch time and I was on my way to a seat. I was looking down at my tray trying to figure out what the hell kind of meat it was. As soon as I looked up I found my food all over a tall orange figure. That figure just so happened to be Dwayne. Dwayne is what you would call the "Head Prisoner". Nobody.... and I mean NOBODY messed with him. But little did I know, everything was about to change. He looked down at me with his dark beady eyes. I looked up at him with chills running down my spine. As I opened my mouth to apologize, Dwayne beat me to it and said "Who the fuck are you?" "None of your damn business.", I said with a smirk. Without thinking he raised his right arm, balled up his fist and brought it straight across face. Everything seemed to have stopped and I felt like I was falling in slow motion. Lying on the floor, dazed and confused, I opened eyes only to see Dwayne standing over me. I was done for......or at least that's what I thought. He brought up his right hand once again but this time, he couldn't even ball his fist up in time. A chair came flying across the cafeteria aimed straight for Dwayne. He looked up and the chair hit him directly in his face. He fell back and I quickly sat up to see where the chair came from. To my astonishment, it was Brandon standing behind me. Then he helped me up. "You ok?" he said. "Yea I'm aight". I was lying like fuck. It felt like I got hit in the head with a bat. But all we could hear was Dwayne screaming throughout out the entire prison like a little girl. Turns out that the chair hit him in the eye...which he no longer has thanks to Brandon. They took Dwayne to the nurse and we didn't see him a again for a good 3 weeks. Ever since that day Brandon got mad respect from everyone and even Dwayne himself. Brandon was more like a big brother to me and I really appreciated that. I never knew what it was like to have a big brother since mine never acted like one. Brandon was the only person concerned about me as far as I could tell.)
You know we've been in here for almost five years together and you never told me why you were in here?
It's a long story. I hate talking about it.
Come on J we got nothing but ti-
(Before we knew it, the bell rang and our door slid open. Our cell door was always the 4th to get inspected but today was different. The warden stepped in wearing a black trench coat, black slacks and black combat boots with his shades.)
