Freedom After Pain

It's been almost 2 weeks since those bastards took my brother away. Nothing has been the same. When he died it's like I died with him. I sit on my bed staring at his bed in a pit of despair. I walk past people every day like I'm the only person here. I don't even want to eat anymore. The ONLY thing I want is those guards in a grave. Today is my last day here. I want them dead before I leave but that's not gonna happen so I'll have to figure out something else. The warden keeps a record of every guard and prisoner in his iMac which is in his office. The only time he isn't in there is during inspections which was just 2 weeks ago. So I went downstairs to the cafeteria where Dwayne and his entourage usually chill. He had 2 guys standing in front of him while he sits at the table with another 3 guys. When I got downstairs I ran straight towards his table but I was immediately stopped by a prisoner named Jacob. Everyone called him "Grandpa" and for a good reason. Grandpa's been here longer than anyone. He told us that he committed 5 murders along with 7 sexual assaults and 2 burglaries. That was almost 40 years ago. He stopped me in my tracks to talk to me about something I'm sure wouldn't be important.

Where you headed to youngster?

Grandpa I don't have time to talk i really need to talk to-

Wait, please this will only take a second.

(By the the look in eyes i could tell he was serious. He looked me straight in the eyes.)

I just wanted to talk to you about Brandon. I'm sorry about his passing. I'm sure you know it wasn't his first time being in jail when he was here. A few years back, we were cell mates. He was in for a robbery. Everyone thought he was crazy because of the look in his eyes and the way he acted but I knew there was a smart young man inside him. The nurse used to put something in his food to calm him down but it also did something else. It made him talk about EVERYTHING. He started telling me about his childhood and his darkest secrets. See most of the time I ignored him but one day he started telling me about when he was in the drug dealing business. He was in a gang called "The Dioses" (Dioses is spanish for gods.) Brandon said he had enough of living a life full of lies and was ready to give up the drug life, but he wanted to make one last withdrawal. He double-crossed his boss, stole his money, buried it and moved halfway across the country. He told me the only person who knows where it is, is his older brother Michael.

Wait wait wait. So why are you telling me all this? I don't know his brother or much less where he lives.

I'm telling you this for your own benefit. I know what it is you want. You want revenge. You want those guards dead don't you? I feel that brandon would want me to tell you this.

But didn't he tell his brother for a reason? He's probably already dug it up and spent it all.

Please just trust me on this. I'm obviously not getting out of here any time soon, but you're getting out today right?

Yea...

So who else to tell other than someone who was so close to Brandon?

(He was actually starting to make sense. But there was still a problem. How the hell was I gonna get halfway across the country to where he buried it? I'd have to come up with a plan after I talked with Dwayne.)

Well I guess you're right old man. But I don't have time right now. I've got to talk with Dwayne. I'll talk to you and get more info later. Thanks.

No problem. Just don't forget to come talk to me...its really important.

(So I turned around and ran to Dwayne's table. I was of course stopped by his little "guards".)
