Alex's POV
"Guys," I said, "don't you think we look kind of...I don't know...creepy?"
"Hush, Alex." Jack said as we made our way down Time Square in black trench coats. "She'll see us if we're not quiet."
"Jack, it's New York City, nothing's ever quiet!" I told him shoving my hands in the pockets of the coat as I kept an eye on Tori, who was roughly twenty feet away.
"Oh, Alex, so much to learn in so little time." Zack sighed.
We were quiet after that as we followed Vikki to the restaurant she was supposed to meet her grandfather at. I sighed as Jack ordered us all to sit three tables down from where they were supposed to be eating.
"Don't you think this is pretty stupid, guys?" I asked them sliding down in my chair.
They all glared at me as I sighed and slid down in my chair more. This was going to be a long day.
Vikki's laughter rang through my ears as she passed our table with her grandfather. He was the spitting image of Richard Gilmore from Gilmore Girls.
*8 hours later*
We ran upstairs to Vikki's apartment sure she would be home in five minutes. Following her for eight hours may seem a bit overboard, but ...well there's not really a "but" about it. It was completely overboard and quite unnecessary.
"Three minutes," Rian shouted as he pulled out an Xbox from beneath the TV and started to set it up quickly. Jack and Zack tore apart the kitchen, pouring chips into bowls and putting them on the coffee table, along with some soda and then tossed around the pillows so it looked as if we'd been there all day. We all took seats on the couch and Zack and Rian started to play some game on the Xbox. The door opened not a minute later and Vikki stepped through. She looked at all of us and sighed but then shut the door behind her.
"Are you guys hungry?" She asked from the kitchen and putting down her stuff on the counter.
"Yes!" They shouted as I continued to look at her from my seat. She seemed kind of off, had something happened?
*a few hours later*
After dinner, we decided it was time to leave Tori's home and promptly go back to our hotel room. Our show in New York was the last one of the Future Hearts tour and we were supposed to go back home to Baltimore in the morning. I didn't know if I could do that without confirming how I felt about Victoria, so I'd called our manager and canceled my flight, while the rest of the guys were still headed home.
We helped Victoria clean up the mess we'd made and we were almost all out the door before I turned to her and asked to talk to her alone. I told the guys I'd meet them back at the hotel and they left.
"What's up?" Tori asked me, as she finished straightening up the living room.
"Do you want to go to dinner tomorrow night?" I blurted.
Tori didn't respond right away. She wasn't even looking at me, just cleaning. Maybe she didn't hear me.
"Tori?"
"I don't know, Alex." She responded quietly. "I don't think we'd work out."
"Work out?" I asked. Maybe if I played it off as a casual dinner then she'd say yes. "I just wanted to take you out to thank you for saving me from sleeping in a parking garage, but if you're not interested..." I trailed off.
If I could just get her to see me as an individual and not "Alex Gaskarth" then perhaps she could see us "working out" or getting together.
Tori blushed at her "mistake" and looked at me with a small smile. "Then I'd love to Alex. Thank you. What time?"
We made plans for the following day. I'd pick her up from her apartment at around seven o'clock and we'd go out for dinner. I silently planned to take her to the Italian place we'd followed her to. Obviously, I knew very little about Victoria Parish, but that was okay, because she was a good person and if it didn't work out then at least I'd have a really great friend.
