The wait outside in the chilly early December air did wonders for my bright red face as I waited patiently for Tony. I sighed softly as a few people sent me some weird looks. Maybe they recognized me from one of those super unflattering articles still circulating after nearly a month? I sighed and crossed my legs anxiously as I saw a car that screamed Tony whip around the corner and pull to a slow stop in front of me.
It was a bright red Camero, early nineties probably. In perfect condition, it was a very nice car from what I could tell, and had some modifiers that I couldn't quite identify. While I studied the car, admiring it a little more openly than I usually would, Tony grabbed me in a tight hug, making more people stare and a couple take pictures. I was taken by surprise, my drink and the pastries forgotten on the bench for a moment as I returned Tony's tight embrace and gave his cheek a tender and somewhat comforting kiss. It didn't make sense, me comforting him when he had come to make me feel better, but it felt right.
"Hey, Idiota. Sorry I dragged you away from the tower." I said softly, smiling as he set me on the ground. My hands rested on his upper arms now and he laughed gently at my dumb nickname.
"Good to see you, too, Sunshine." He said softly, grabbing my drink carrier an the bag of baked goods so we could get in the car. I smiled and got into the passenger side when the door was opened for me,buckling quickly as Tony slid into the driver's seat and handed me my scores from the Starbucks.
"Here, these are for you, Tony." I said gently, handing him the espresso and donut. He smiled, giving a small thank you as he set them aside for now. I munched quietly on the eclair and sipped the coffee carefully as we got closer and closer to the tower. It wasn't a long drive, especially since the traffic was weirdly slow, but I didn't mind and tapped my feet to an unknown beat as we pulled into the underground garage.
When we got out of the car and went towards the elevator, Tony was explaining a few things to me. Something about an AI system, a few things about Thor's pop-tarts (and why I shouldn't touch them), the usual chaos of the tower, and the high possibllility that I would meet more soulmates today. I gulped and nodded along silently as Tony asked Jarvis, the AI, to take us to the 'Commons', which I assumed was a living area. The AI wasn't so keen on letting us up that easily.
"Mr. Stark, you have a visitor without clearance to this level of the Tower. Shall I call security?"
"No. Give Sol clearance to all levels."
"Permissions overridden. Sol Peterson now has administrative privileges."
"Thank you."
I smiled at Tony, taking his hand for balance and as a thank you when the elevator started up. He was too sweet for me, I didn't understand why people were so nice to me sometimes.
With a subtle ding the doors to the elevator opened to an open space. It had a cluster of couches and a TV at one wall, open space between that and a raise area for a kitchen and dining area. I smiled and stepped off the elevator with Tony as I studied everything.
"This is so pretty, Tony." I said softly, turning to my mate as he pulled me in and hugged my to his chest. I felt a soft touch to the top of my head as he pressed a kiss into my hair and let me go again. He let me wander as he went into the living room and began channel surfing before a broadcast from some gossip-y news station played. I sighed as I realized I was the topic of today's "table talk" as so many shows called it.
"It seems Mr. Tony Stark has been seen in public twice now with the fairly young girl. Identity still unknown, the last time they were spotted together was in Washington Square Park this morning, embracing before retreating back to Avengers Tower."
