Jack walked up to the front door with a bag of takeout in his hand. He had two orders of pad thai, some spring rolls, and an order of lemon grass soup. He knew Kira would eat half of it now for lunch and then she'd be hungry again in about two hours.
"I don't get it," Corbyn said as he walked behind Jack. "She can't stand the smell of orange chicken but pad thai is just fine."
"It's honestly a weird list," Jack said with a shrug. "Orange chicken, salami, roses, and most soaps all make her feel sick. She loves the smell of fruit though."
"Especially mangos," Zach added.
"Yeah! She's obsessed with them," Jack continued. He stepped aside as Corbyn unlocked the front door and they all made their way inside. "I'm starting to think if she had to choose between me and a mango, she might pick the mango."
"Tough luck," Corbyn said with a shrug and Zach laughed.
They set the food on the counter. Jack turned toward the stairs to go see Kira. She had still been asleep when he had to leave for the studio that morning and he hadn't seen her in hours. He took one step toward the stairs.
"JACK!" Kira yelled from upstairs. Jack froze momentarily as his body began to panic. His first thought was something bad had happened while he'd been gone. But why wouldn't she have called? He heard her running down the stairs before he had a chance to move. When he saw her face, she was smiling. "Jack, I made it! It's been 12 weeks! I made it!"
"It's been 12 weeks?" Jack asked in disbelief. Kira nodded excitedly.
She ran across the room to him and jumped into his arms. He caught her and spun her around as she wrapped her legs around his waist. He held her tightly to him.
"Baby, that's so amazing!" he said.
"I know! I can't believe it!" Kira said happily. She buried her head in his neck. "It's been 12 weeks!"
Jack continued spinning her around and they were both laughing. Zach and Corbyn watched them while they stood frozen by the counter.
"12 weeks?" Zach mumbled to Corbyn.
"After 12 weeks the risk of miscarriage drops significantly," Corbyn reminded him.
"Oh right," Zach said with a nod.
Jack finally set Kira down, but he still held her close to him. They both had huge smiles on their faces.
"Baby, I'm so happy for you," Jack said sweetly. He brushed her hair behind her ear and then he rested his palm on the side of her face. "I knew you could make it through the beginning. Now there's less risk and you can finally relax."
"And we can start telling people!" Kira said and her smile seemed to grow. "We can finally tell people we're having a baby!"
"That's true," Jack said with a huge grin.
"Come on! I wanna call my parents!"
Kira grabbed Jack's hand and pulled him toward the stairs. She was so excited she didn't even notice Jack had brought food back for her. She also didn't see the hesitance on his face when she'd said that they were having a baby. He glanced back at Corbyn and Zach briefly before following Kira upstairs.
Corbyn and Zach watched the two of them leave.
"It's nice to see her be happy about this finally," Corbyn muttered and Zach nodded slowly. They were both still watching the stairs. "She's been so scared and worried and I think this is probably the first time I've seen her excited about being pregnant."
