Silent Rain

Alia

They say you can't have a rainbow without a little rain, but what if you can't see the rain? What about the silent tears? The noiseless pain? The unheard beating? Where's the rainbow then? Do people care for the silent?

And more importantly,

Is it unreasonable to believe that tears can be dropped silently?

I can't say that I don't cry, because I do. I'm not dying that crying is weak, I just prefer crying in privacy, without bothering about including people in horrible problems.

Now, I know, I'm only human and that's why I relive my emotions through anger and sometimes, just sometimes, I slip into love- or lust, whatever you call it.

Therefore, when I woke up, half naked, in an unknown bed, near Mia, I wasn't completely surprised.

Mia sat against the head board, her nose buried in a newspaper. Her brown hair was tied in a loose bun and she bit her lower lip lightly. She wore a white flannel shirt over her undergarments and her green eyes flitted through the words with urgency.

"Hey," I mumbled, smiling.

"Who's Beyoncé?" she asked, eyebrow furrowed.

"Beyoncé?! You don't know Beyoncé?"

She shook her head, "cut away from society, remember?"

"Oh yeah," I grumbled, "she's the queen."

"Like a real queen, queen?!" Her voice was so filled with surprise that I decided to continue to play with her.

"Yeah, no shit. What other kind of queen?"

"I don't know," she looked down at the newspaper and gasped, "it says she's the queen of the world. I didn't think it was possible to conquer the whole world!"

I laughed at her oblivion, "well I guess you can. " I tucked a loos strand of hair from her cheek.

"So cliche," she laughed, making a face.

"What? I was trying to be romantic!" I laughed with her, "How was last night?"

"A handful," she snorted.

"What do you mean?" I asked taken aback, "I'm a sex goddess."

Mia looked at me, bursting with laughter. "Y-you think we did it? Y-you-"

"Did it? What are you, ten?" I guffawed at her laughing. "We didn't?" I asked with surprise.

"No!"

"I remember kissing though," I said, confused.

"Yeah, we kissed. And then I dropped you off at the hotel and went to pick stuff up from your apartment. By the time I was back, you were completely wasted," she shrugged.

"And then?"

"And then," she laughed, "you decided to go skinny dipping."

"No," I groaned, running my fingers through my bed hair.

"Yeah, and I had to follow you to the pool and then you said something about me being you and pushed me into the pool." Her jaw hardened.

"Sorry," I gave her an apologetic look.

"Oh, no I'm not done," she smirked.

"Seriously?"

"Then you decided that you were a bird, so you dragged me all the way up to the roof, and on the last step, you passed out, so I had to drag you all the way down, and make sure you were alive."

"Oops," I glanced around the room.

"Oh and then,"

"No, no no no no."

"You were mumbling when I put you in recovery position and I remember you clearly said, 'Mia, you and I should make brown monkeys. The purple ones are really ugly, don't you think, Mia?' That's when I knew you were sane," she smirked.

"Shut up," I smacked her hand.

"You also promised you'd take me out."

"Like on a date?" I asked.

"You're déjàvu," she retorted, "and yes, on a date."

"Okay, but where we going?" I asked.

"We're going to watch the marathon,"

"What marathon?"

"The Harry Potter marathon."

I growled at her words, "no way!"

"You promised! Promise breakers and losers and weepers!" she screamed in my face.

"Ugh, fine baby. " I snarled.

"I'm not a baby!"

"You are!"

"Am not!"

"Are so!"

"Am not!"

"Are so!"

"Am-"

I locked her lips with mine, smiling against her smoothness. "That's how lesbians solve their arguments," I mumbled. I was about to bring her lips back to mine when a high pitched ring crowded the room.

Mia fished my phone out from my jeans sprawled across the floor.

"Uh, it's Fae," she looked at me with caution.

"It's chilled, give me that." I took the phone from her. Breathe in, breathe out.

I clasped the phone near my ear and pressed the accept button.

I recoiled my hand immediately at the angry pitch of Fae's voice, "Alia? Alia? Where are you?! Why didn't you come home last night? Alia!"

"Why didn't I come home last night?" My voice grew high pitched as anger boiled inside me.

"I was so worried, Alia, don't take that tone with me! Where were you?"

"You have no right to ask any questions," I said, coldly.

"Yes, yes, I do, you're my girlfriend."

"If I was you're girlfriend then you wouldn't have been kissing the doctor, Fae."

I cut the line before she could respond and through the phone a cross the room. Its contents splattered across the floor, crackling open in the middle.

"So, Harry Potter, huh?" I turned to Mia.

She nodded softly, "you know what? I think you should just send me back to the institute and then maybe we can do that sometime later."

"Okay." I clenched my fist, annoyed, "okay, yeah, sounds good."

I suppose I was right, you truly can't have the rainbow with the silent rain.
