I was sent to my dorm without lunch or dinner. As if their food was good anyways. I just took a nap until around 9pm. I woke up to an odd ticking sound. Not like a clock, and it was barley audible.
Tick.......tick tick...... tick
I turn to my window just in time to see a small pebble hit my window. Jacob. I Peer down to see him trying to pick up a few more rocks. He looks up to see me and smiles, beckoning me to come down. The dorms are on the 3rd story and thankfully mine is on a corner that is blind spotted from the cameras. I wake up Lizzie and let her know I'll be gone, she's my room mate. Too scared to leave on her own and so in return for her not snitching and helping me back up, I always bring her a little something. I throw a rope down and slide down the wall, Jacob catching me at the bottom and Lizzie pulling the rope back up.
The sound of footsteps coming around the corner, me and Jacob hid in a bush. One of the night guards making his lap around the school. Between the school and the city there is a fence. A tall metal fence, around 14 feet high give or take. They didn't want anyone climbing. There's a hole behind the fence we're hiding in. We stole a pie of pliers from the janitor. We wait till the coast is clear and crawl out through the opening. Until we get far enough from the school we lay low. Making sure none of the other school cameras see us.
Farther into the city there's a bike shop. The owner is completely against the government and current president, so, he doesn't eat us out. There's actually a secret room behind his counter that kids from all over the city come to for refuge. George. That's his name. The friendliest guy you will ever meet. He's older man with the sweetest smile I've ever seen. He reminds me of my grandfather. Tall, round, and kind. As soon as me and Jacob enter his shop, his face lights up.
"I haven't seen you two in a while"
He steps out from his counter and comes to give us a hug. His hugs are my favorite, he does and extra little squeeze and it always makes me laugh.
"Someone's been on surveillance"
Jacob looks at me and I roll my eyes in return.
"Well, there are some kids in tonight why do you head on back? I think we might have company"
George looks up from up and we hurry past his counter and he changed his sign to closed.Behind the counter there a door covered by some skateboards to make it look like they're part of the display. If it weren't for the chip in the wall on the bottom of the door, I'd honestly forget where it was. We slip behind the door and past the tassels George set up. There's soft music playing as we head down the stairs, and quiet chatter.
