A week has gone by since Tremond's family tragedy, and the day of the funeral has finally come.
At 8:23am, in a churchyard, mourners dressed in black gathered in the Garden of Remembrance, holding flowers as they waited in solemn silence. Meanwhile, Tremond, pale and consumed by grief, sat alone inside the church at one of the back rows. His eyes, hollow and lifeless, carried the look of someone who had lost all purpose, fixed with heavy disdain on the sculpture of Christ behind the altar. Suddenly, someone approached him from behind to inform him that the funeral was about to begin. Rising slowly, they both left and made their way to the graveyard within the church premises.
Tremond stood silently beside Silvia as the mourners gathered around, listening to the pastor’s solemn prayers for the corpses. After what felt like an eternity, the burial ceremony began, with the coffins slowly lowered into the ground. Overwhelmed by the weight of the moment, Tremond averted his gaze. Unable to bear the sight of his mother and sister being laid to rest, he quietly slipped away, undetected, his cold and distant demeanour unbroken.
From a far bench, he sat, his face etched with a mix of intense anger and profound sadness, watching as the burial continued. Gradually, the mourners began to leave one by one. Among them was Leonard, who had attended the ceremony earlier; he quietly approached Tremond, placing a gentle tap on his shoulder.
The surroundings were serene, filled with lush greenery and the soft chirping of birds, a deceptively peaceful setting, perfect for either drowning in overthinking or attempting to escape one's sorrows.
"I'm not sure if this is the right moment...but I really want-" Leonard began to confess, only to be cut off mid sentence.
"Let’s not talk about this... please," Tremond interrupted. Though his tone was calm, the fire in his eyes made it clear that the subject was unwelcome. Leonard hesitated, falling silent for a moment before attempting to speak again.
"If you ever need anything, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’ll always be here for you," Leonard offered sincerely. Tremond, however, remained quiet, his gaze distant and unresponsive, ignoring the words entirely. Moments later, Silvia approached, and without a word, she and Tremond walked away, leaving Leonard behind waving goodbye.
#HOURS LATER-
After the funeral concluded, Tremond left with Silvia and returned to her house. From that day forward, he began living with her, as she took it upon herself to care for him following Sarah's passing.
Later that evening, Tremond was downstairs in his room, taking a shower, while Silvia remained upstairs, searching through some old documents. The hours passed quietly, and before long, she drifted off to sleep amidst the scattered papers.
She woke up at 7:50pm, realizing she had fallen asleep during the search on her desk with papers scattered everywhere.
Seeming so tired, She stood up and began to organize them when she then heard a knock on her door.
"Come in," she called out, her voice steady but expectant. Yet, no responded. She repeated, more firmly this time, "Come in."
Without warning, the door flew open with a violent force, slamming against the wall. Her heart leapt as she froze in shock, staring at the empty doorway before her, no one was there.
All of a sudden, the room lights began to flicker, casting eerie shadows across the walls, as a cold breeze swept through.
In that instant, without warning, her chair slid across the floor on its own, stopping abruptly right in front of her.
Frozen in fear, her mind raced as she whispered to herself, "What is happening?"
Meanwhile, Tremond was in his bathroom, lying pale in the bathtub filled with water, lost in thoughts, succumbing into the loss of his family, with calm music playing on a low volume from a small speaker placed at an edge in the bathroom.
