Chapter One:
"I really am worried about you Miss Wilson you've lost almost 2 stone in only 3 weeks are you sure there is nothing I should be aware of?"
Carter stared blankly at the wall behind her doctors head, her innermost thoughts held nothing but hatred for her mother for sending her here, she'd only agreed to see the doctor to shut her mother up. She'd gotten fed up of hearing her drone on about how her hipbones were becoming ridiculously noticeable. Despite her mothers thoughts on her body Carter was quite fond of her new physique and enjoyed feeling light and feathery, she hadn't intended to lose weight when it started but now she liked knowing that it was having an affect.
"Miss Wilson?" The doctor begged, Carter sighed shaking her head. No she didn't need to tell her everything, she'd said enough. The doctor let out a long breath but decided against pushing the matter further and ended the consultation.
Carter made her way out of the waiting room into the brisk air, her head held high as she left passing elderly people that raised their eyebrows at her, Carter smirked as she went by she knew how it must look an 18 year old girl leaving the doctors alone;a one night stand.
The ground under her feet was a layer of ice as the winter came in, the trees were bare and the skies dark, the air harsh against her skin, people she passed wrapped scarves tighter around their faces and held their heads low. She began the 5 minute walk back home bearing the weather as best she could.
"So? What did the doctor say? You did go didn't you Carter?" Her mum collared her as soon as she entered the house; Carter groaned loudly unwrapping her scarf and unbuttoning her coat hanging it on the rack behind the front door.
"Yes mum I went, and like I said nothings wrong with me." Carter pointed out rolling her eyes as she passed her mother and headed for the fridge.
"What? So that's it? She just let you go?" Her mother retorted.
"Yes Mum." Carter answered pulling a carton of orange from the fridge, annoyance was clear in her voice but her mother took no notice.
"But look at you! You're skin and bone and you're telling me she had no concern?!" She lectured heading towards her daughter. Carter scoffed throwing the juice back and leaving the room.
"Why won't you just believe that nothing's wrong mum?! I've been to the doctors and you're still trying to pull me apart to find something sort of problem! I am fine." Carter cried as she stormed up the stairs slamming her bedroom door shut behind her. As she passed her mirror her own silhouette caught her attention bringing her to a stop, she discarded her shirt to the floor and stood in front of the reflective glass just gazing at her self. She felt the outline of her collarbones, she could feel it right the way to her shoulders and she could feel the connection between the collarbone and the sternum. She noticed how she could count each and every one of her ribs; she couldn't before. She ran her fingers up and down her side sliding the tips over each bone counting 12 in total, her fingers dipped as her waist did right under her rib cage; she never used to have a proper waist. She ran her palm over her stomach feeling for the non-existent bump of fat and then finally to her hipbones, she placed a hand on each noting that she could grip hold of the bones without pushing into the skin.
Carter knew that all of these things should probably worry her, but it didn't she liked being small and skinny. She liked that now boys might notice her and she liked that she wasn't known as the 'fat' girl anymore. She was no longer the girl that was 'chubby' and 'huge' she was one of the 'skinny' girls. She liked that title.
When she'd started purging she thought she could do it once, maybe twice just to make herself feel better but she hadn't known how addictive it could become, she didn't know that it would essentially take over her life and she didn't know that it could be so effective, she tried not to think that she had a 'problem' as such she saw it as a habit, she knew this wasn't the case but decided not to worry about it and figured she'd grow out of it eventually.
Once she felt satisfied that she was doing the right thing she replaced her top with a hoodie and collapsed on her bed, she sat crossed legged and pulled her hair up into a bun out of her face. Her glasses got placed over her eyes and her Mac Book pulled out from her drawer. She logged onto to Tumblr and Twitter, her best friend had left her a mention.
@ItsCarterbaby Come meet me for coffee later we need to talk?
Carter smiled her best friend was her only friend, Caitlin had been her friend since forever and she couldn't imagine life without the bubbly blonde.
@BasicallyCaitlin Course! Starbucks in town yeah?
She replied slamming the lid of her laptop down and snatching her iphone from the desk next to her plugging it in to charge.
