Chapter 10 - Soar

'Kaminari-Kun couldn't react to him!?'

Watching the final match of the first round, Izuku Midoriya along with everyone else in Class 1-A were surprised, some overwhelmed, by the results. With his lightning cloak, even though it wasn't perfected as of yet, it still heightened his body's speed beyond Iida's own quirk. It also improved his reaction speed as well which should've given him the edge over Y/N...

'What...What did he do wrong...'

Replaying the short match in reverse, Izuku tried to find the one thing that allowed Y/N to swiftly end the battle. There wasn't much to look at, but he would have to decipher whatever he could considering he would facing the Class 1-A ace next.

First off, Kaminari used his lightning cloak. What was Y/N doing at that point? He moved adjusted his form a tiny bit, didn't he? That's how he could shift from no speed to top speed instantly probably. Ok, then Kaminari was about to use his indiscriminate shock attack and that's when Y/N struck...

'The error Kaminari-Kun made...'

It had to be that. The one thing that allowed Y/N to defeat him effortlessly. He acted first. Y/N's quirk is a reactive one. It reacts to whoever or whatever he's facing. As such, letting the opponent act first is the best option for him in all scenarios of one-on-one combat. Izuku could let Y/N act first, but...

'That's a double-edged sword...'

There's no telling whether or not Izuku would be able to react to Y/N's first attack. The only chance of defeating him he had was throwing him out of the ring. His physical strength isn't on par with the Nomu as of yet and using 100% willy nilly would result in forfeiting the following matches to come.

'No...I have to...I have to show the world that I am here!'

The second round of the tournament had commenced. The starting matching being between Bakugo Katsuki and Iida Tenya. It was a very close match, their differentiating specs clashing against one another, but nonetheless...It had to end.

In the middle of the arena, Iida slammed his leg down powered by his engines onto Bakugo's neck, thinking and hoping he finally knocked the rageful boy out. A mistake on his part. Bakugo showed just how determined he was to win this tournament by withstanding the blow by the skin of his teeth and turning himself to grab onto Iida's leg. His open palm facing back away from him, explosions came out of his palm, swirling the two in a tornado of smoke.

"Die!"

The tornado made it pretty far into the air before Bakugo let go, sending Iida flying into the ground outside of the ring. Coughing up a mouth full of spit as he crashing, he was still partially conscious as Midnight announced the match results...
