This wasn't it

The first drop landed right on top of my head as I stared up at the gray sky.  My entire body was still sore but it didn't bother me.  I turned my entire body to look at the hospital I was just released from.

It's been a few weeks since the war...if I remember.

I.....We weren't able to win.  During those weeks, Heaven passed a law that half of their soldiers would be sent down to help rebuild Earth into a better place for everyone.  Of course people were happy about this and I couldn't blame them.  It sounds great but me knowing the truth...this only benefits Heaven.  They're using the people as pawns so they would work their way towards leadership.

During my time in the hospital, there were protesters coming by my side of the hospital every single day to convince the doctors to not let me live.  Just because I was the only one left from the war.

You read that correctly.  I was the only one who survived the war.  Not my friends, not Lucifer, no demon came out alive.  The angels even broke through our portal and killed the rest of the demons in Hell.

Not even my brother made it out alive.

At the end of the war, all the angels found me clinging onto my brother's lifeless body.  His and my own blood covered me head to toe.  All of my friends' corpses surrounded both of us including C.C.  I couldn't look away from them.  I couldn't stop screaming.  Heaven's leader raised his spear, ready to strike the final kill until one of his angels stopped him.

The angel was the one I envy the most...Beelzebub's one nightstand, Crystal.

I felt my anger bubble up inside me causing me to fall knees first to the concrete.

Why the fuck did she stop them?  IS THIS HER PLAN TO MAKE ME SUFFER?!  WHAT THE FUCK DOES SHE WANT FROM ME?!

I held onto my head as flashes of memories went through my mind.  I curled myself more towards the ground to see my reflection through the puddle.  My eyes were now glowing an Amber color.  My breathing pace increases, "N-Nick....NICK I NEED-" I turned my head to see no one there.

No...No.  Get a grip Alexa.  You can't rely on anyone anymore.  Don't trust anyone, don't show your pain.

It's time to grow up.

I got up from the wet floor and made my way towards an alleyway.  We used to take these routes as a shortcut to town but with angels down here now....At least one of them is surveilling the area.

"Alexa!" Speaking of the devil.  I tilted my head up to see an outline of a bit with brown hair.  My body tensed up as I saw his brown eyes too.  "Nick...?"

The person got closer and pulled down his hood to show his angelic glow.  My eyebrows furrowed, "Oh...What do you want?"

"So it is you....The girl from the war." He continued to stare at me.  I took one step towards him and he immediately pulled out his dagger.  I reached towards my pockets to feel nothing so I put my hands up to my face.  "I won't hesitate!" He shakily held up the knife.

He wasn't any threat.  I lowered my guard and approached him, "Yeah.  I won't either." My wounds are still fresh, I can't risk opening them.  Besides, if he kills me, he kills me.  He would be granting me and the world a huge favor.

"The doctors should've killed when they had the chance." He spat as I walked past him.  I paused dead in my tracks and pivoted around to grab his wrist.  I twisted his entire arm back and kicked him against the wall.  He yelled, sliding down it as I hovered over him.  My hands grabbed hold of his hoodie, "I wished they did." I whispered.

I grabbed his knife from the ground and slid it through one of my belt loops.

I slowly peeked my head out of the alleyway to see many angels and humans walking together as one.  They've already passed a law that all human beings or families should at least have a Guardian Angel.  Everyone believes it's because they would prevent me or any sinners from getting close to them and corrupt them.  But I truly know what they are doing...It's their way of monitoring us and making sure that no one is going against their rules.
