I lose my breath for a second then regain my composure grabbing a beer.
"Hey hey what's your name?"
"Callie. And you?" I ask
"My name is Jason I'm the host great to meet ya Callie." He says smiling.
He's tall with dirty blonde hair, green eyes, pale, tanish skin. He's cute but he's got nothing on Ryder who's staring me down as we speak.
"Well enjoy the night I'll j uh see ya around Callie." He says smiling then leaving.
I take a few sips of my beer and try to enjoy the music looking for Alexis and Alex who I can't seem to find at the moment.
"Ryder you haven't took your eyes off her since she arrived and that's not your girlfriend so what's up?" Kane (Ryder's best guy friend) asks
"I don't know. Veronica bullies her but tonight she just looks amazing." Ryder says smiling
"I didn't think she was your type." Kane says
"She's not but she's in her zone tonight she's got confidence and looking at her I wouldn't be able to tell if she had issues or was bullied." Ryder says
*** After searching around a bit I finally find Alexis and Alex.
"Thanks guys." I say sarcastically
Alexis laughs "I'm sorry babes he's just an awesome kisser."
I half smile and nod "Well at least some have their love."
Alexis half smiles "You'll find yours babes just don't look for it. I wasn't looking 4 years ago when you introduced Alex."
"Yeah sweetie you are a beautiful girl with an awesome personality and you deserve better than Ryder." Alex says rolling his eyes.
"Yeah funny you should mention him he hasn't stopped staring at me since I arrived." I say
"All I can say is be cautious with him he seems like the fuck and chuck type." Alexis says
"Yeah nothing is gonna even happen anyways he's with Veronica and I'm surprised he actually went against her a few days ago." I say crossing my arms.
"Well I won't tell you what to do babes but I'm just saying be cautious with him. It's bad enough you've had one do that to you, you don't need it again." She says hugging me tightly.
I hug back. "I'm glad I have good friends like y'all and Kelley.. speaking of which where's she at?" I ask.
"She was gonna come but she has a chemistry test Monday." Alex says smiling.
"Ohh damn that sucks." I say sipping my beer.

After sometime the music starts to faded out and the people slowly start to head home. I've only had one beer so I can drive myself. Alex and Alexis have a had more than me but they say they will be fine but I said text me when y'all both get home just to be sure. I'm heading to my truck when Ryder stops me.
"What can I do for you?" I ask crossing my arms.
"You sure you can drive?" He asks
I roll my eyes. "Please don't pretend like you care but yes I've had one beer."
"Who says I don't care?" He asks
"I do. Veronica does. The entire school says so." I say
"I care I'm not a complete asshole." He says
"You are drunk I'm going home Ryder do you need me to drop you at veronica's?" I ask
"Can you? I rode with Kane here my car is at hers." He says
"Yeah. Get in the passenger seat but if you puke on my purple camo seat covers we gonna fight." I say
He chuckles getting in and shutting the door.
"I'm serious." I say driving off towards Veronica's house.
