I would just like to tell you a little about this story/these characters. I will be adding in pictures of the characters, but if you want to visualize them yourself, that is totally understandable! I prefer not to have photos too, but I thought it would be fun to make my own characters into something a little more solid than just an idea.
Hairspray was a very big part of my childhood, but it is not without its faults. In this story, I will try my absolute hardest (from the POV of a white person) to point out the "white savior" situation which happens in the actual musical. Of course, these events never actually happened, but it is important that we point out the mistakes of telling the history of blackness, no matter the situation. If I make any mistakes, however, please, please, point them out and I will fix them right away.
