Bloody Winds

Chapter IV

It's been about 2 months since I met that boy. Surprisingly I still never got to know more about him or even his name. At this point now the bite scar has healed and it is barely seen anymore. I felt the freezing cold breeze hit my face while I was walking through the park on a cold December weekend.

Kids were seen in puffy coats, mittens, and hats playing with the snow and making snowmen. Some demon children were even having a snowball fight. Couples were walking joyfully, admiring the rainbow lights galore hanging from tree to tree.

People were laughing and smiling, having a fun time out in the cold. I held my satchel close to me as I looked down watching the snow crunch and create imprints of my winter boots.

I wished Sage was able to come outside with me, but she was busy with other stuff that she couldn't even come see her favorite time of year.

A small child ran past me that has red and black pigtails, she looked like she was also a vampire. She had her hands up in black fuzzy gloves, laughing and yelling "You can't catch me!"

I watched the little girl run as another girl, probably a couple years younger than me, chase her back. Wearing a black hat and a deep red coat with long wavy red and black hair. I stood there watching them, not even realizing people were behind me. I small smile creeped across my face until I got bumped into by somebody.

"I'm so sorry! I just uhh didn't think straight for a second i'm so sorry!" I said as I turned around a bowed for forgiveness until I looked up to see who it was.

It was that boy.

"Oh no worries! It's fine. I'm just watching my sisters." He smiled and laughed. I slowly started to blush again from looking at him.

"I'm Felix by the way. And you are?"

"Oh! I- I'm River! Nice to meet you!" I stuttered while laughing a little bit nervously.

"What is wrong with me? Why can't I talk to him without stuttering or seeming so awkward!? Probably the worst first impression somebody could make." I thought to myself while we stood there in a moment's silence.

"Want to come on a walk with me?" He extended out his gloved hand. And smiled at me. He then looked over at his sisters and laughed as he saw his little sister trip.

"Sure! I'd love too!" I took his hand and walked next to him over to his sisters. He helped his little sister up. Then kneeled down and hugged her. I watched him closely as his little sister knocked him over and started to mess up his hair. His little sister then looked over at me and stared for a while.

"Who's that Felix?" She said while studying my every move almost like she didn't trust a thing I did.

"That's river, he's a classmate." And immediately his sister calmed down and stood up along with Felix. I stared at Felix until he looked over and saw I was staring at him. I immediately looked the other way. He started to laugh and I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"It's okay many people stare at me. I'd love it if you'd stare at me." A hint of teasing in his voice as his hand left my shoulder. I rolled my eyes and looked over at his little sister who was now doing cartwheels in the snow. The fluffy snow crunched under her feet and hands.

When she stopped she stood up and started stumbling as she was dizzy. The pigtails that were once in her hair had fallen out and her hair was now down. Felix started laughing again. His laughter brought a smile to my face.

But then all of the sudden that all stopped laughing and went silent. A tall man with long red hair and a long black coat waving a hand fan in front of his face stared down at them with his eyes the color of rubys. And then he looked over at me and stared at me before pulling Felix away from me and turning to face him.
