허공을 떠도는 작은 먼지처럼, 작은 먼지처럼
날리는 눈이 나라면 조금 더 빨리 네게 닿을 수 있을 텐데?

I'm gathering my things to go home when Nurse Han comes bursting into my office.
"We've got an emergency! You're the last one here before the next shift. I know it's the end of your shift, we could wait for someone else but we're losing him and he might not make it!"
My desire to save lives as a doctor overrides my emotional exhaustion.
"Let's go. Tell me while we walk."
"Okay. The patient is a car accident victim, a 37-year-old Male, with heavy lacerations all over and several broken ribs. The fifth rib on the left side appears to be putting pressure on his lung."
"Thank you, Nurse Han," I say as he leads me to the patient. I stop. Then as fast as I can I'm moving. I thank god for all the training I've had as I move and instruct the nurses instinctually.
He lies on the table almost the same as I last saw him. Fluffy hair a little longer, an extra line barely visible around his eyes. The same sparkling eyes, straight eyebrows, soft nose and nice chin. Kim Seokjin.
His rib is broken and beginning to puncture his left lung. It will be tricky but I can move it, I can save him. I have too. I owe him this at least, this and so much more.
I move quickly and more precisely than I ever have and soon it's over. When everything is done I change out of my scrubs and walk to my car. Suddenly I remember. The boys, they're still at school. I shout something foul audible to every story of the car park.
