We were driving back to Didan City, passing the sandy grounds and the sand turning into grass, with multiple bumps as if there were small mountains we were driving on. Obviously, we needed to talk about Outpost 80519 which was practically the main base of our arch nemesis. Of course, if this outpost had a huge army surrounding it, it had to be a big outpost filled with a cache of resources.
My only question though is why the number is so familiar..? I feel an unnerving feeling from my stomach, like an unknown being has went into my soul and started nibbling on my sanity. No one else in the vehicle felt the suspicion I had, and the reason I know that is because all of them were just talking, normally.
Malik sat in his seat, quiet as usual. When I looked at him, he gave me a look that said to focus. He was way younger than me, and still, was way tougher. But even the most toughest people have a soft side. They just don't like to show it, especially in a situation like this.
I kept on driving, despite the off-putting feeling I had, looking at dawn arise from the other side of Earth. I miss times when I would just sit and watch the sun come down. Of course, it'd be a long time before I can do that more. This world has gone to shit but thank the god that beauty, like these beautiful morning and the wavy trees, still exist, despite the chaos. I laughed to myself, thinking of the shit nukes that they sent for the Earth to perish that really ended up with minor damages, killing off the weak and old nature. So confident, they sent the weakest bombs. At that point, why even try?
As Sun Tzu once said, "In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunities."
And that's exactly what this time is. I never expected myself to read a lot of Sun Tzu but in the recent chaos and killing I've done, I need his quotes and wisdom to keep on going.
We arrived to Didan City to be met with 10 soldiers of Dungeon's Lair sitting outside of the gate, arguing with the gate operator.
"Open the fucking gate! We have orders!" the soldiers yelled at the operator, waving their guns in the air at the camera, as if the camera has a life.
The operator, this time, being Ghasu, spoke through the speaker, and I could only assume was him looking at the screen through the cameras, "I would be dumb ass hell to open the gate for you inbred hicks. We have people coming back as of right now. Please scram if you don't want a bullet in your skull."
I parked the car into the muddy grass, that was only present because of the recent weather. It's nice to know the nuke didn't ruin that. I grabbed my rifle, and got out of the vehicle and slammed the car door, and aimed at them. The others left the vehicle, and Bailey quickly made sure I didn't break anything on the vehicle.
They instantly raised their rifles up and at me and my crew, ready to pull the trigger. Guess the big guy at the protected outpost got scared, boo-hoo. His first thought is to send his most dumbest looking soldiers ever.
"Open the gate, now! We got orders to attack Didan City. Apparently, you assholes attacked our outpost!" the soldier yelled at us. It was like this was the most important thing for him, and even with all of that determination within his eyes, I could still see the fear, as I lined my crosshair to his head. I relaxed and laughed.
"Seriously?" I scoffed, lowering my rifle. "First, who said that? And secondly, why would we raid you out of all people? You're not worth our time, you annoying pricks."
One of the soldiers from the back moved to the front and replied back, "Wolflock. Apparently, a radio transmission came in and it wasn't General Thompson. He said that it might've been Didan City who attacked the outpost. Just open the gate, we promise we won't make it too painful-"
I sighed while the overconfident asshole continued talking. I turned around slowly, made a circle with my two fingers in the air as a signal to shoot. I hung my head with a grin, ready to hear the shots. My group shot all at once and the soldiers dropped.
