Anna and I start to see an abandoned town up ahead, surprisingly with no fort of raging idiots shooting bullets into the sky. It looked abandoned, but there was no vines growing on the buildings, or no broken windows. This city looked nice, but this was weird, because the town was huge, and the lunatics that are walking around this Earth wouldn't leave this city in good condition. I suddenly had a bad feeling, because last time, it was a pristine gas station, and it ended up being a ambush.

"Oh! This looks like a nice town," Anna says, looking at the nice building.

I was still anxious, "Let's be careful, there might be a ambush here."

"Or maybe..." Anna considered a different possibility. "...no one found this area and we're lucky."

"It's been 10 years. I'm sure the idiots roaming the world already looted this place. Last time there was a fully stocked area with good conditions, we got attacked," I warn her.

Anna raises her eyebrow, questioning me, "We?"

"I used to be in a small group until people ambushed us. It was a stocked area, which should've been our first red flag," I tell her, with a sad look. "I was sitting in the truck, waiting for the group, when I heard gunshots. When I got there, my group was injured. But I couldn't save them so I left."

Anna put her head down, feeling bad. I turn my head from her, embarrassed to even talk about it.

We enter the town. I was really surprised. None of the building had bullet holes, the roads had no cracks, even some cars here were still in pristine condition. We weren't near a nearby clan hideout, at least, I thought so. I've been running behind on my notes.

I signal to Anna to make her way into the closest building that was promoted as some type of liquor store. I wasn't interested in the store but the apartments right above the store. Anna stopped and grabbed a bottle of whiskey, taking the top off. I glared at her and with a goofy smirk, she put it back slowly.

We both moved up to the apartments and began searching through the rooms one by one. I Along with Anna who was searching a dresser, I was searching a nightstand.

I was starting to be convinced that maybe we had gotten lucky and no one has actually looted this place.

Ironically, a gunshot misses me by a couple inches. Almost instinctively, Anna jumped for cover. I looked towards the source of the shot in a quick nature, and I still see the glass breaking from the shot. It was from a sniper in a building across the street. I see a sniper bullet go through the window and it hits the wall close to me. I have no reaction to this. I keep searching the drawers and its like I can hear the idiot reloading.

Anna, loading her revolver, looked at me with a crazed look while yelling at me, "Get the fuck down! Why are you still standing? How did you not flinch to that-"

She kept asking questions as she began to show herself to the sniper and try to shoot towards him. I hear the gunshot come from the sniper and I turn around, and I see the bullet coming towards me. I'm not sure how but it was like time went into slow-mo. As I saw the bullet head towards my head, I step to the side, grab my assault rifle from my bag, and I aim for his head. I pull the trigger and I see his body drop to the floor of the roof that's not too far from us.

"Oh my god.." Anna looked at me while standing up. "...h-how did you do that?"

"Muscle memory." I tell her while I put away my gun back into my bag as I keep searching the drawers. Real reason? I didn't know. Maybe later, I'll probably figure it out.

I prepare to head up to the roof of the building the sniper was at. I know he wasn't the only one because a loner with brains wouldn't be in the wide open. That had to be bait to go into that building. And I'm taking it. Besides, I have a lot more brainpower then idiots that bait enable to loot from enemies.
