The day it all stopped

~A broken Mind~

It was the next day, Paige was still asleep but I woke up due to my chest feeling really hot. I thought I was going to go unconscious again but that was not the case. I checked and realised it was Paige. She was burning up and her temperature was really high. Me being Me , I was confused as ever. I tried to wake her up but she was sound asleep. I went to look for water as water was not frozen and we could drink it and wouldn't die. Whatever anomaly or elden god who caused this clearly made this for our survival. Food could be cooked as the gas for the stove could move ,We could somehow breath even though most of living things have stopped. When I was on my to Paige I got jumped by a monstrous creature which walked in 4 legs and somehow barked? It was not a monster just cute puppy. It looked around 3 months old and once it saw me it would leave my side and followed me till I reached Paige who was still asleep. I went to look for a cup to contain the water but I suddenly heard a scream I immediately ran towards Paige and saw her playing with the puppy. It seemed that the puppy had licked Paige's face which woke her up. I then made a smoothie with the help of mixer which still worked somehow. When I went to give it to Paige, She looked at me in a way that cute puppy looks at its owner when It wants something and that melted my heart. Paige was feeling cold somehow when her temperature was as high as the sun. She was wearing a hoodie and she just slid her palms inside the hoodies sleeve with only her fingers sticking out. We decided to leave and gather some resources but after an hour or so Paige's legs gave up and she couldn't walk as she was a skinny girl and height no longer than 5'3. I asked her if she wanted to rest but said no and walked for about half an hour. I heard her heavy breathing and saw her walking around with eyes closed. I went to her and picked her up on my back and went on to gather stuff. After some time she woke and was sleepy while still on my back, she saw that she was on my back and then hugged me tightly and quietly murmured "I would die to marry you ****". (editor's note - **** refers to our mc name which hasn't been revealed yet) Paige who then woke up completely didn't realise what she had said in her sleep and continued to gather stuff with me. We then made a camp at some persons house but made sure to put the person out of his own house and lock the door so that if they became unstuck they wouldn't disturb us. I locked the door and immediately someone knocked on it. I saw a bat in the persons house grabbed it and slowly opened the door and the one who knocked on the door turned out to be no other than the cute little puppy who had quietly followed us the entire time. I took it inside the house and washed it. While washing it I realised that the puppy was a she and whatever happened wouldn't leave Paige's side after the event of today's morning when she woke Paige up.
