⚠️ Trigger warning ⚠️
for miscarriage/baby loss/ abortionSeren grabbed her phone and made her way to the bathroom. She sat down on the loo and dialled Omega, trying to slow her racing heart. He picked up after the first ring.
“Seren, do you need me?”
“Yes,” she said in a shaky voice. “I’m bleeding.”
“I’m on my way. I’ll call Secondo.”
She hung up and a sob escaped her. She had thought on it last night, thought hard about everything, and had decided.
Seren was going to drink the tea today to end the pregnancy, but it looked like Fate had taken the decision out of her hands. She hated to think that way, but was eternally grateful for it. Seren knew that the life should never have been created in the first place, but it was still a life.
She heard the door open a few minutes later and Omega burst through the door, running to her.
“I’m here,” he said as he put his arms around her.
She rested her face against his stomach and breathed him in.
“Thank you. I woke up and there was blood, so much of it," she said as a shudder ran through her.
Omega stroked her back and she clung to him and cried. She didn't want any of this, but the numb shock she had felt was fading now and the rawness of what had happened hit her full force.
She heard voices coming from outside, and a quiet knock sounded on the bathroom door.
“Seren? It’s Secondo. I have Sister Rachel and Quinn with me. Can we come in?”
She nodded against Omega, and he answered for her.
“Yes, come in.”
The door opened and the Sister came in first and crouched down next to her. She stroked her arm gently, and Omega stepped away and went to stand with Quinn by the door.
Quinn was studying her in that unnerving way of his, but she focused on the Sister and answered her questions. She didn’t have to ask if Secondo knew what had happened, because Quinn would have informed him about it after he left them yesterday. At least she wouldn’t have to explain it all.
“Can you all wait outside, please? I’ll call you if we need you,” Sister Rachel said to the others. They filed out and gently closed the door. The Sister gave her a reassuring smile. “When did you notice the bleeding?”
“I woke up and realised.”
“Are you in any pain?” she asked.
“Not too much. Just some cramping. I think the worst of it is over. The bed is a bit of a mess.”
She sighed and wrapped her arms around her middle.
“I’ll just check you over and then we’ll get you cleaned up, okay?”
Seren nodded and the Sister quickly checked her temperature and her blood pressure and the other little things that she needed to do. She seemed satisfied and helped Seren to undress so she could have a quick shower to get cleaned up. She heard her open the door and ask for clean clothes to be sent in before coming back and perching on the edge of the bath until she was done.
