Olivia's POV
Tears streamed down my face as I hugged my father. "The doctors told me mom didn't make it," He said as he kissed my head. "I know, Dad. I know and I'm sorry," I say between sobs. "Livy, please don't apologize for something that's not your fault. You had no control over it," He says as I nod and finally pull away from the hug.He wipes the tears away from my cheeks but it's no use as more spill down my cheeks. "Please don't cry. I hate seeing you cry," He says as his eyes become filled with water.
As he continues to wipe away my tears I try to contain all the emotions that are currently spilling out of me.
Finally calming down, we begin talking. "Where have you been staying?" He questions, assuming that since he's in the hospital and moms dead I couldn't possibly stay at home alone. "At a friend's house," I respond. "At Jake's?" He asks and I shake my head. "He's in foster care and so is Devon so I'm staying with Lexy and her mom and sister," I say. "Lexy Cross? Wasn't that Oliver's girlfriend?" My stomach drops at the mention of Oliver's name. "No. She's my girlfriend... I think," I say as my dad gives me a questioning look. "Oh? Elaborate," He says and I sigh. "It's complicated and I honestly don't know what's going on between us," I say, dropping my head to look at my now fidgeting hands as he lets out a hoarse chuckle. "Well, ask her," He says and my head snaps back up to him. "No way," I respond quickly, maybe a little too quickly. "Talk. You have to communicate with her, Livy. Did you guys even admit your feelings?" He questions. "Yes and no," I answer and he rolls his eyes at me. "It's a yes or no question. Not both," He says and now it's my turn to roll my eyes.
"Yes, because when I was in the hospital she admitted her feelings and I guess I did too," I say and he nods his head. "Alright well, there you guys go. You both like each other so why not take the next step?" He questions and I shrug my shoulders. Honestly, I didn't know if Lexy wanted to be my girlfriend but I knew I did wanna be hers. I wanted to hold her like she is mine. But would she want to do the same? She kissed me so I'm assuming so. But what if she's leading me on and wants nothing more than to be friends?
Oh my god, Olivia, shut the hell up for Christ's sake!
"So...?" My dad waited for my response and I let out a big breath. "I don't know. I haven't asked her yet but she's been acting... girlfriend-y with me," I shrug my shoulders as I talk.
We're we screwing so I guess—No! Now is not the time to say that you got down and dirty with some girl.
Correction: a girl. A girl I really, really fucking like.
"Just ask her the question and if she says no; screw her," Been there, not fully done that—I really need to stop. "Ok. I guess I'll ask her when I see her later," I say, shrugging my shoulders.

My head lay on Lexy's shoulder as I stared out the window. We were on our way to Lexy's house with her sister beside her. "How'd it go?" She asked me as my hand lay in her lap. She grabbed my hand and started to stroke circles into my thumb. "It was fine..." I trailed off as I didn't want to speak about the conversation I had with my father earlier because it was mostly about her; us actually.
"It was just...fine?" She questioned me. I knew what she was trying to do so I just gave in. "He finally woke up..." I trailed off again. "That's good," She responded but she seemed like she wanted to know more. "Maybe we should wait to talk, you know," I whispered as I motioned my hand to her mother and sister who were definitely listening in on our conversation. I can see her mom roll her eyes in the rearview mirror. Damn, isn't she nosy, huh? She nods her head in understanding.
The rest of the car ride is silent other than, Lexy and I whispering to each other and her mom saying or hinting semi rude things, especially to me.
After we get home they have this interview thing downstairs and since I'm not part of their family I obviously am stuck upstairs until it finishes. It doesn't take as long as I thought it would though and now Lexy is hopping onto her bed and laying down with a sigh. "What happened?" I asked as I sat next to her on the bed. "You first," She says and I let out a sigh also. "My dads really heartbroken about my mom... he says he misses her and I do too," I say as she gives me a look, most likely because I mentioned my mom which I never do. "Are you okay though?" She asks with concern evident in her voice. "I guess I'm fine... for the most part," I say as she nodded her head. "Did you both talk?" She asked and I nodded my head. "Yeah, um, we talked... a lot," I say as she turns on her side to look at me more comfortably. "About?" She asks and waits for my response.
