_______________
After the exercises, Jeff throws himself on the couch to rest a bit before leaving. From where he is, he waves to whoever leaves first, but his eyes always turn to Barcode still lying on the floor, seeming to stare at the ceiling.
The boy has sweat-damp hair plastered to his forehead and one hand rests on his abdomen while he's trying to breathe more calmly. Their eyes meet as he turns to face Jeff, who smiles, watching him do the same.
"Come here." When the last person leaves the room, he pats the couch next to himself. Barcode just shakes his head. "Don't make me go there."
The younger only responds with a grunt and a laugh, still looking at him. Jeff narrows his eyes and stands up, but he immediately does the same, pointing in Jeff's direction when he's already on his feet.
"I haven't forgiven P'Jeff yet, remember?"
"Barcode!" With a whimper, he walks slowly towards the boy.
It doesn't cross Jeff's mind that maybe he's being ridiculous or that it's not even possible that he's missing him that much already. As he approaches, Barcode moves away at the same speed.
"Not yet." He raises his finger more intently towards Jeff, making him stop where he is. "We haven't even really talked, Phi."
Slumping his shoulders with a sigh, still standing where he is, he just nods.
"Want a ride?"
"Absolutely not!" Barcode widens his eyes as he shakes his head.
They cannot help but burst out laughing, sparks flaring in both of their eyes. Jeff even grunts when he feels goosebumps on his arms and decides to turn his back on Barcode and go get his own bag before he loses control.
He sits down to put on his sneakers and barely finishes when he is surprised by Barcode jumping on him. As a habit Jeff is used to, nervous laughter is accompanied by arms crossed in front of his chest. Barcode simply presses their lips together and thrusts his tongue into his mouth in a motion so fast and intense that Jeff just doesn't react.
When he regains his composure, Barcode's already pulling away and running towards the door with his backpack over one shoulder.
"Barcode!" He shouts, but it's too late and he disappears through the door.
Jeff laughs to himself for a few minutes, staring at the door as if he expects him to come back and change his mind about the ride, but he doesn't.
As he leaves the building towards his own car, he chews on the smile that insists on appearing on his lips. This time he puts on some random music and hums along along the way, hoping that this time things are happening at the right pace, even if that pace was determined by Barcode at that moment.
And he's right, they really need to talk.
When he gets home, Jesse is in the shower. He decides to order food and runs to have a shower himself before dinner. When he finishes, he finds his brother sitting on the living room floor.
"I hope this is in celebration of good news." Jesse says pointing to all the food.
"Almost good news, I guess." Jeff says with a smile as he settles down and starts helping himself. When he sees that Jesse is waiting for more, he continues. "He's about to forgive me, he just said we need to talk."
"Oh well, look! The boy is not the emotional one freaking out in this relationship."
"Oi!" Jeff kicks his brother, but it doesn't bother him and he keeps laughing at what he just said.
