"Bailey, come here boy." Susie shouts as she runs outside. As Susie runs, her golden curls bounce up and down. Bailey quickly follows behind the young girl.

Susie jumps on the swing. Susie kicks her legs back and forth as the swing gets higher. Susie glances down at the golden retriever sleeping on the cool grass. Susie's mom opens the window, leading to the backyard, and yells at her that lunch is finished.

"Bailey, come on!" Susie exclaims as she runs into the house. Susie holds the door open, waiting for Bailey to come in. Susie almost falls over the dog as he runs in between her legs. Susie sits down at the dining table and waits for her mother to give her the plate.

Susie looks down at the plate and sees a ham sandwich with cheese, carrots, and a bit of yogurt with berries on top. Susie's mom hands her a barrel juice, the blue one. Susie secretly tears a piece of ham off of her sandwich and feeds it to Bailey.

Susie grabs her plate and puts it in the sink. Bailey perks up when he hears Susie opening the door. Bailey darts across the floor and jumps out the door, Susie following not too far behind.

Susie runs back to the swing. She was kicking her legs when she had a brilliant idea.

"Bailey, fetch!" Susie says as she throws a stick. Bailey's ears bounce as he jumps in the air and catches the stick. Bailey and Susie keep playing the game together.

Susie threw the stick a little too hard and it flies over the fence. Bailey Jumps over the fence to retrieve the stick. Susie was screaming his name and opened the gate. Bailey was too busy running after the stick to see the car speeding down the road.

Susie watched in horror as she screamed. Tears were running down her face as she ran towards his body. He was completely crushed. Susie was holding on to Bailey, telling him how she loves him and how he is going to be fine. Bailey was dead, however.

Susie's parents came running out of the house. They looked at the road and saw Susie sitting on her knees. Her parents jogged up to her and saw the bloody body in front of them. Susie's parents grabbed her and the dog.

Susie watched as her dad put her best friend in a hole. The grave had Bailey's name and the time that he was alive. Susie cried into her mom's arms.

Susie sat in bed thinking about how this was the worst year of her life. First, it was Evan and now it's her dog. Susie cried into her pillow until she fell asleep.
