Zafina stood in the deli line waiting patiently for it to be her turn. This is the only long line outside of Zaxby's that she would wait it. In her opinion Publix had the best subs and it wasn't no topping them.
Main reason why she chooses to grocery shop here. The subs. She already had stuff in her cart to make subs like submarine sauce, hoagie bread, banana peppers, lettuce etcetera.
She was going to get her meat freshly cut while her sub was being made. "I can take who's next in line" She pushed her cart up and to the side stepping closer to the glass.
"Hi, can I get two 12 inch subs on Italian herb and cheese bread ?" She started off, waiting for the lady to ask her what she wanted next.
"What's you meat and cheese ?" She glanced down at the assortment of meats and cheeses like she didn't already know what she wanted. "Salami and pepperoni with cheddar cheese on both please." The worker explained that she had to cut the salami and pepperoni fresh so Fina asked could she cut extra of both for her to take home.
She felt awkward just standing there with her back facing the world. She felt like she was being judged. Don't get her wrong she loved every ounce of her body but she could never shake the feeling that people were watching her.
She took in her surroundings. Some days Publix could be packed like Walmart other days it's calm. This is why she prefers coming on weekdays. They get her in and out in a jiffy. Well unless she wants a sub.
Returning with the sliced meat she began assembling the sandwiches. "Toasted on not toasted ?" She answered not toasted only because she was ready to go home. "Can I get lettuce, banana pepper and olive oil on both ? Oh and can you cut them both into fours ?" She requested.
Halves were too big for her. A fourth would get her full along with some chip and a drink. "Sure." She wrapped up the sandwiches and the the fresh cuts of meat handing to Zafina who quickly took it to get out of the line.
She grabbed a half gallon of lemonade and sour cream and onion kettle chips before making her way to checkout.
