Chapter 21

[Please Read]: One of the mcu characters in this book is going to be pretty awful, but I want to be clear it's only for the purpose of the plot.

*Bucky's POV*

I was busy stabbing one of these horrendous looking aliens when all of a sudden it just disappeared. It was like it turned to dust right in front of me. I looked around and saw that my teammates had similar confused faces as they watched all of the aliens disappear.

"Umm...where'd they go?" Clint asked, voicing everyone's thoughts.

"What the hell just happened?" Tony stopped flying and came down to the ground.

I looked around and we had everyone except y/n. Where is she? I begin to look around for her frantically.

"Have you guys seen y/n?" I asked, concern lacing my voice.

I cant lose her. I can't. Not again.

"I thought she was with you," Nat said, walking towards me and looking around.

"Shit!" I huff, looking for her. "Y/n! Where are you?"

This is my fault. I should've been protecting her.

"Her location has been turned off." Tony said while checking his tracking device, making me even more anxious.

"I can't feel her presence either." Wanda says with her eyes closed trying to see if she could sense you.

God. Where could she be??

"Something is really wrong." Steve said.

"Yeah, no shit!" I yell, running my fingers through my hair angrily.

"Don't worry, Bucky. We'll find her." Nat reassures me, but it doesn't seem to help as I am still scrambling to find her.

"As soon as the aliens disappeared, y/n went missing. That can't be a coincidence." Steve started thinking out loud.

"Alright, I'm sending Redwing to scope out the area in case she got lost or something." Sam said, activating his drone to look for my girl.

After about an hour of all of us looking for y/n, we decided she wasn't there and that something must've happened to her.

I'm so fucking frustrated that we can't find her. I mean where could she have possibly gone?

*Third POV*

In low spirits, the Avengers made it back to the compound and they still have no idea where you are. Bruce and Tony begin contacting S.H.I.E.L.D agents to see if they have any information about where you might be.

After only a couple minutes of them doing research and contacting any connections they have, Bucky becomes agitated and starts asking for updates. "Have you found her? What's going on?"

"Barnes, we're doing everything we can, you have to relax." Bruce answers as he types on his computer.

Bucky wasn't having any of that and lost it. "NO! I'M NOT GOING TO FUCKING RELAX! Y/N IS MISSING AND ITS MY FAULT!" He began yelling at Bruce and Tony. He wasn't actually mad at them, he was just upset with the situation.

"Buck!" Steve quickly walked up to Bucky and grabbed his best friend by his shoulders, who was struggling to keep it together. "We will find her. None of this is your fault!" Steve pulls him into a hug, holding him tight, trying to reassure Bucky.

"Everything was going so perfectly," Bucky mumbles quietly as he cries, "I was gonna marry her, Steve. And now she's gone."

Steve holds onto him tighter at his words, he knows how much you mean to him and he can't stand seeing his best friend so broken. "She's not gone, Buck," Steve says, "I promise." He hopes he can keep this promise even though he's unsure of where you are and if you're okay.
