HAND COMPARISON

'Hey, SUNNY?'

The two had cleaned off a portion of the dish of cookies and were now admiring the scenery, along with the stone statue off to the side of the pond beside them, or taking turns with SUNNY's GAMEBOY.

'Your hands are kinda small.' KEL raised up an open hand, offering to compare with SUNNY's. The pale boy rose his arm hesitantly, his palm and fingers neatly resting against the other teenager's. His pale, yellowish complexion was very different from KEL's tan one, of course. And it was obvious that his dear friend was the one with the larger hands. The few things they had in common with their hands were their rounder fingertips, and the slight bruises coating the back area of the boys' hands and the tips of their digits. While SUNNY's bruises were from constant nail-biting, like how he did outside of this dream state, KEL's were from being..simply careless.

KEL grinned goofily. 'See? I told you so.'

SUNNY's lips slightly curled up into a weak smile, as he lowered his hand and returned to gazing down at the blank screen of his GAMEBOY.

'SUNNY, you know there's nothing on it, right?' KEL craned his head over, confusion lighting his tone. 'Yeah. Sometimes it reminds me of something.' he glanced up at his friend.

'Like what?'

'..I dunno.'

KEL smiled brightly. 'You look nice when you smile.' SUNNY's heart gave a flutter. The world seemed to slow down for a moment. 'I wasn't even smiling..?' he questioned, desperately trying to connect the dots on how he was feeling. KEL awkwardly looked away.

'I just think about it a lot, you know?'

(edit: they're literally flirting istg..DW THEY'LL KISS SOON )

HECTOR gave an annoyed bark. The canine had.. done its deed (aka pissed) on the blanket beneath them. 'HECTORRR! Why would you do that?!' KEL whined childishly, clearing the items off the mat to scold the dog and to attempt to clean the stain. 'Do you know how much dry cleaning is here?' The teen was obviously upset with his dog.
'KEL, I'm sure he didn't mean to.'  SUNNY chuckled, standing to assist his friend with the blanket. 'Still.. this was our really old picnic blanket! It's like, four years old! Do you think HERO will be mad?' KEL questioned anxiously.
'Of course not, KEL.' SUNNY hastily put everything into the picnic basket. 'As long as you didn't want to damage the blanket.'

KEL couldn't help but smile. 'Awe, thanks buddy! You're awesome.' He placed an arm over his friend's shoulders. 'I'll find another place for us to go, promise. You deserve it!'

SUNNY was hot in the face again. Oh dear.
'Uhm.. not really..' he murmured, gazing back at the dog to distract himself. 'But it's true! You're an amazing friend, SUNNY.'
SUNNY glanced up at his friend, with widened eyes. 'How so..?'

'I don't think I need to tell you! Everyone agrees with me, you know?' KEL smiled.
'But, after what happened..' the pale boy trailed off, as if trying to find out if this was after what had been said at the hospital. (whoops.. spoilers.)
'But nothing happened! What are you talking about?'
KEL cocked an eyebrow. SUNNY shifted his hand up towards his right eye, feeling around for the fabric of his eyepatch. Not there.

Huh.
He lowered his shaky arm.

'Sorry, must've thought of something else.'
