Treat Her Right

"What happened?" Matt said helping Gabby to her feet. She was traumatised and Matt needed to find out why. Then suddenly Gabby burst out in tears. Matt wrapped his arms around her as she sobbed into his chest.

"Hey, Gabs, go back to bed" Matt suggested pointing to the bed.

"We have been awake for 2 hours Matt!" She said laughing a little. She looks from her phone to Matt to the bed. "Fine"

"It will do you good" Matt said smiling.

He helped Gabby into bed. He tucked her in and kissed her on the head. He got up and walked to the door before turning off the light. Jut as he started to walk out the room he heard a quiet voice call his name. He turned to face Gabby.

"Can you lay with me for a while?" Gabby asked quietly.

"Sure" Matt said as he walked round to his side of the bed, climbed in and snuggled up to Gabby.

All of a sudden Gabby started to hum the she started to sing quietly.

Matt layed there his face buried in her hair. He was amazed. Gabbys voice was so soft and gentle but yet full of emotion. After she had stoped she awkwardly rolled over to face him. When she reolised that he was still awake she started to blush out of embarrassment.

"Oh, Matt im so sorry!"

He just smiled at her and ran his hand through her hair.

Suddenly her phome buzzed on the bedside table, she reached over and grabbed it. It was a message frim Brian.

'Hey, i have just landed. I am really looking forward to seeing you'

'Ok im on my way. I cant wait to see you to!' She replied.

Gabby looked back round to matt "i got to go and pick up Brian" she said starting to getbout of bed.

"You want me to come?" Matt asked calling after her.

"Nah, it's ok. The airport isnt that far baby"

" drive safe" matt said kissing her.

"I will" she said walking out the bedroom.

An hour later

Gabby was leanimg on the door of Matt's new truck waiting for Brian. Then out of the croud she saw him, they made eye contact and he smiled a big broad smile. He patted a guy on the back and said goodbye (gabby knew the he said this bevause she was trained tomlip read from her time in the navy) Brian started to jog towards gabby. He was dodging people so he could get to gabby quicker. Gabby put her hands in the pocket of her hoodie. She was wearing matts hoodie because it was baggy and this would hide her baby bump. She was going to tell Brian about it but not just now. Brian walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her.

"Gabby! Look at you!" He said pulling away.

Gabby just stood there and smiled, she wasnt feeling to good.

"We should make a move" gabby suggested walking round to the back of the truck so Brian could put his bags there.

"Yea sure, i can't wait to see an American apartment!" Brian said happily.

Gabby laughed to herself "they are really not that different"

At home

Brian walked up the path to the house behind gabby. She unlocked the door and saw matt jump up off the sofa, sort out his shirt, so he didn't look scruffy, and walk over and put his arm around gabby, who was standing awkwarly. She cleared her throat.

"Err, Brian this is Matthew Casey, err he is my.... partner" gabby said awkwarly.

Brian took a step towards matt and heald out his hand. Matt shook it.

Gabby looked from matt to Brian.

"How about we all go to bed, Brian you must be tired from traveling also matt and i have shift tomorrow!" Gabby said.

"Sounds like a good idea" Brian said.

" i will take up your bags" gabby offered starting to pick up his bag.

"No its ok, you go to bed!"

"Ok,i will" gabby said a little confused.

"I will be up in a minute" matt said tapping gabby on the shoulder as she walked away.

"Ok" she called from down the hall.

Matt started to turn and follow her down the hall whn he felt someone grip his arm. He turned back around.

"Hey kid. Dawson err Gabby, she has been through a lot. I am sure that you have heard all the stories. Ok what i am trying to say is that i am here to help the london and chicago cops find out what happened to her mother. I am not sure that gabby has told you but the last time she saw her was when she was 16, it was just before she left for Afghanistan. Look she told me in the car that she doesnt really feel like she can talk to Antonio at the moment, not just now becuase he is in Florida doing extra training. I see the way that she looks at you, she trusts you and it takes a lot to get gabby to trust you. She said that your the only proper family that she has left. Matt, you seem like your a great guy. Please promise that you will look after her for me." Brian said seriously.

"You have my word" matt relpied.

"Ok, im going to bed" Brian said walking up the stairs. Whe he got half way he turned round "night matt"

"Night" he replied following him up the stairs.

Matt walked into the bedroom and saw gabby still asleep on the bed. He gently got into bed, trying not to wake her up, and wraped his arms around her baby bump. He kissed her lightly on the side of the head and whispered "night baby"
