"Hello, Miss Sunshine" Billy greeted as the reporter walked into the bar. He'd invited her there for a drink and a chat- An offer which she graciously accepted.
She knew he tended to twist and bend the truth, as most lawyers do, but there was no denying he was damn good at his job and she admired him for that, so the opportunity to talk privately with such a man was exciting.
"Hello, Mr. Flynn" she greeted as she sat next to him at the bar. He snapped his fingers and the bartender got to work. "It is a pleasure to meet you off the record"
"And you as well" the lawyer smiled. "How is the reporter life treating you?"
"Well, I believe" Mary shrugged. "It's hard presenting as a woman in the field"
"Would you rather be presenting as a man?"
"Heavens no" Mary shook her head earnestly. "No, that's behind me and I never want to return to it" she continued. "Still, people don't really respect women in the field, you know?"
"I know" Billy nodded solemnly. "But hey, I'll promise you this- Whenever there's a fresh scoop and I'm the one with power, I'll see to it that I answer your questions first"
"You'd do that?"
"Of course" Billy smiled. "Who ever said chivalry is dead? Besides, I think a bias towards such a pretty lady would be understandable to anyone with working eyes"
"Oh, you flatter me, Mr. Flynn"
"That's the idea, Sunshine" he smiled. "Now, what do you think about coming home with me tonight, huh?"
"Oh, Mr. Flynn"
"Offer's on the table" he shrugged. The bartender walked over with two drinks and handed them to the both of them. "Thanks" the lawyer thanked the man. "Put it on my tab"
"Of course, Mr. Flynn" the man nodded and walked away.
"I don't got no one waiting for me at home" Billy said, turning his attention back to the reporter. "That, I promise you on my career"
"It's insane that such a charming man doesn't have a lover waiting at home for him"
"Such is the life of a lawyer for the ladies" he shrugged. "They trust me more if they think they have a chance to sleep with me"
"How crude"
"You're telling me" Billy chuckled. "So, what do you say? You wanna come back to my apartment?"
"I'd love to"
