Where is My Mind? (Second Wave)

More people were leaving. The trees were eating up everything. The first neighborhood island was eaten up in California. The west of the mainland was consumed by trees. Brazil was reaching its limit for taking more people. The same was with Chile. Argentina was next. They could only take in a few people. Like ten choppers. The government had to work fast. The forest is forcing their hand.

Speaking of the government, it was time for the ground to go up to the sky. An order for members related to the military and government were ordered to move to the floating base. They became the top priority in this pause as they tried to get other countries to take the remaining citizens. That included those in Golden Leaf.

-Teresa and Dylan-

Teresa had already started packing up. She was only going to take what she was going to need. She gave away the rest of it. The house she was staying in was almost empty now. There was just one more thing that she needed.

Teresa walked up to Dylan's door and knocked. It took weeks to convince the military to let him come and stay with her. By that point, it turned into grabbing as many people as they could before the trees ate up everything in sight. Theresa just got the news last night that she could take him with her. She stepped back as it opened a crack.

"Have you decided to go with me?" Teresa asked.

"When are we going?" Dylan asked in a tired voice.

"We are to leave in three days," she said. It wasn't like he had a choice in this matter. There was nothing here anymore. Chester was dead. The mainland was dying faster now.

"You don't have time to hesitate," Teresa said. "I have to know now." Dylan lowered his head.

"I don't have any other options, do I?" he asked. Teresa shook her head. The boy sighed. He opened the door to let her in. Teresa followed him inside.

She helped him pack up.

"What all are you planning to take with you?" she asked. Dylan shrugged and shook his head.

"I don't know," he said. Teresa sighed and shook her head.

"Do you need me to help?" she asked.

"I guess," he said. She rubbed her forehead. This was going to slow everything down for her. Still, she couldn't leave him behind.

"Let's start in your room," she said. The girl walked up the stairs. Dylan sat nothing as he followed her.

It would take two days to sort everything out.

"You can't take everything," Theresa told him. "What do you want to keep?"

"My Xbox," he said.

"Okay," she said. "Anything else? Write down everything you want to take with you." Dylan nodded.

They got people to help them clear out the house. Some of the boys got to keep some things.

"Whoa!" Martin said. "I haven't seen this model in years!" He turned the model plane over in his hand.

"Keep it," Dylan said. Marty looked up at him.

"You serious?" he asked.

"Yeah," Dylan said, shrugging and nodding. Marty didn't react at first.

"Oh, sweet," he said. "Thank you." Dylan just waved him off. He didn't care anymore. The boy took one more look around his room.

Meanwhile, Theresa was pulled to the side by Patience.
