DREAM - WHAT HAPPENED TO RENJUN?

It's difficult to have a friendship group that just clicks. No fights, no drama, just pure friendship. Well, it's not difficult for these 7 friends. Being in the same year group and having similar music and dance passions, the boys were always bound to get along.

"TO THE DREAMIES!"

Ah, yes. The 'Dreamies'. Their unofficial name for the group of them. Others include 'Dream Boys' and 'The Seven Dwarves' - safe to say the last one had mixed opinions. No one knows why they call themselves the Dreamies, not even me! I suppose it's because their dreams reach past the sky and into the endless night above.

As their glasses clink together, the boys smile and laugh before downing the drink in their cups.

After a night of memories, the boys need their space and decide to leave each other. They exchange their goodbyes at the door and depart, walking in pairs to their respective homes.

"See you guys!" waves Chenle as he watches the 6 boys leave before walking out of sight. Events were always held at Chenle's house because his house was the biggest (and his parents were the kindest). Chenle loves the boys as if they were his own brothers and his family seems to love them like that too. Well except for Jisung, Chenle gets along a little better with him. Some may say "soulmates" but they just say "friends".

Jisung is dubbed as the "innocent" one of the group, in a sort of wholesome and cute way. "Look, Renjun! A bird!" he points to a rustle in the darkness.

"Jisung, that's a fox," says Renjun as he rolls his eyes. The two live near each other so make their way home together. "It's got a foxes tail, do you see?"

"Oh," says Jisung, pouting.

Renjun smiles at his tone. Although Renjun has no patience for the rest of the group, he seems to have a lot of patience for Jisung. He just found him so cute and innocent. Naive, if you will. It made him happy to see him look at the world with such wonder, almost like a child. Renjun can only wish to see the world how he does.

Over the other side of town, another two of the Dreamies make their way home together. Mark, the eldest, and Haechan, who, uh, likes to get on Mark's nerves a lot. Mark pretends to hate it, pushing him off of him and calling him annoying in front of the others, but when it's just the two of them it's a different story. He doesn't have to keep up his mature front anymore, he can just have fun with him.

"...and then we can make friendship bracelets for the other five as well! Does that not sound cool?" asks Haechan enthusiastically before turning to Mark. "Hey! Were you even listening to me?!"

"Yeah, I heard you. Friendship bracelets for everyone, right?"

"Hmm," Haechan ponders for a moment before smiling wide, "you were listening! Great." Haechan always speaks to Mark so happily when it's just the two of them alone. Around the others, he's a bit more annoying. He likes to play pranks on them and joke with them; he loves to get a reaction from them. Even though he might be considered a pest at times, he's sort of the glue of the group, always creating some sort of commotion to get everyone bonding.

And now we get to see our final two Dreamies, aka the two that are suspiciously very close to one another, Jeno and Jaemin. At some points, they don't even try to hide their closeness and of course, Haechan makes fun of them for it. The others look on confused, almost as if to say "JUST ADMIT YOU'RE A COUPLE NOW!!" Of course, they won't. They have asked them before, only Chenle had the guts to do it, but they neither denied nor confirmed it. In fact, I think they liked the attention because the only response the other five got was a smile from them.

"And he's gonna make us friendship bracelets!!" says Jaemin, almost leaning into Jeno as he walks. Jaemin was sweet, very sweet; it almost makes you question how he is so sweet when there are people like Haechan around him. But he's a charmer. Very charismatic. Unproblematic. Never argues or fights. And if there's a game being played Jaemin doesn't care for winning. He just enjoys the time with his boys.

"Cool! I hope we get matching ones," replies Jeno, his eyes smiling for him. Jeno is sweet like Jaemin but cooler than him. Their classmates think he's the coolest too. Always trying to get close to him and one even dared to ask to join the Dreamies! He speaks coldly to the other students, a short "no" before walking away. He's the opposite with these six though - it's his exterior that's cold while his interior is warm as fire. Not like Jaemin, who has a golden heart for everyone, and he shows it to all.

Back on the other side of town, Jisung departs from Renjun. "See you tomorrow Renjun!"

"Wait, Jisung."

"Hmm?"

"... I'm- I'm sorry."

"What's that for?" asks Jisung, tilting his head.

"Just-, uh, just tell the boys I said sorry. They'll know what I mean."

"Why don't you just message them then?"

"No!" Renjun begins unlocking his door, "Just- Just, tell them tomorrow. At school. Okay?"

"Oh, okay. See you tomorrow, then."

"Yeah... See you around."

~

'Must remember what Renjun said. Must remember what Renjun said. DONT FORGET JISUNG. What did I not want to forget? Oh no I forgot it! It was, uhhh, OH! Renjun! Sorry! Jisung don't you forget now!!!'

Jisung's mind relays the message for the boys as he walks to school, a little later than usual for some reason. When he gets to the gate he sees five of the group waiting there for him. But, wait, why do they look like that?

"Hi, guys! Sorry I'm late- Oh! I have a message," says Jisung to the group, "it's from Renjun."

The others whip around to him. "Renjun?!?!" "You know where he is?!"

"Know... where he is?" Jisung looks to the group and notices Renjun's absence, "where is he?"

"Jisung, you didn't hear? Renjun's been missing since last night. His parents reported it."

"But- But," Jisung widens his eyes. 'But I walked him home...'

Two days pass since Renjuns disappearance and the others are yet to here a word from him.

Jaemin's mind scrambles as he attempts a piece of homework before receiving a group call from Mark.

"Is everyone here?" asks Mark solemnly to the group, his voice monotone, and quiet.

"Yes, we're all here now," answers Chenle, "What's up? Is it Renjun, have they found him yet? You said you'd call when you heard where he was."

"Yeah, um, they- they have. They've found him. Bu-but- they found his body."

"What?!"

"It said on the news. They- They've found his body in a ditch 5 miles from his house. They- They said it was a suicide."
