Sarah had thought that breaking the curse of the ink would be the end of her troubles. But she was wrong.
For the past few weeks, she had been plagued by strange visions. Every time she closed her eyes, she was transported to a different place, a different time. She saw things that she couldn't explain and heard voices that weren't there.
At first, Sarah had tried to ignore the visions. But they kept coming, night after night. She found herself waking up in a cold sweat, heart racing, unable to shake the feeling of dread that came with each new vision.
One night, Sarah found herself standing in the middle of a dark forest. The trees loomed over her, casting long shadows in the moonlight. She could hear the sound of rustling leaves and snapping twigs all around her, but she couldn't see anything.
Suddenly, a figure stepped out from behind a tree. Sarah couldn't make out any details in the darkness, but she could sense that it was malevolent. She tried to run, but her feet wouldn't move. She was rooted to the spot, helpless.
The figure advanced on her slowly, a low, menacing growl emanating from its throat. Sarah tried to scream, but no sound came out.
And then she was back in her bed, gasping for breath, heart racing. She could still feel the cold touch of fear on her skin.
The next night, Sarah found herself in the middle of a crowded street. People were rushing past her, jostling her, but no one seemed to notice her. She tried to call out to them, but her voice was drowned out by the noise of the crowd.
Suddenly, a man stepped out of the throng and grabbed her by the arm. Sarah tried to pull away, but his grip was iron-strong. He pulled her closer, and Sarah could see that his eyes were filled with malice.
"Come with me," he hissed.
And then Sarah was back in her bed, gasping for breath, heart racing. She could still feel the man's grip on her arm.
The visions continued, night after night. Sarah saw herself falling from great heights, drowning in a sea of dark water, being chased by faceless figures. She couldn't explain any of it, couldn't understand why it was happening.
And then, one night, Sarah saw something that made her blood run cold.
She was standing in a darkened room, surrounded by flickering candles. There was a figure standing in front of her, hooded and cloaked in black. Sarah couldn't see the figure's face, but she could sense its power, its malevolence.
"Welcome, Sarah," the figure said, in a voice that sent chills down her spine. "I have been waiting for you."
And then Sarah was back in her bed, gasping for breath, heart racing. She could still hear the figure's voice echoing in her mind.
Sarah knew that she had to do something. She couldn't keep living like this, tormented by these strange visions. But she didn't know where to turn, who to talk to.
