'Her grandmother was dead.'
'Her grandmother's killer was dead.'
'But she was not dead.'
Those were the only words running through her mind. She was lost and didn't know what to do. All she knew was that she was a fatherless, motherless, and grandmother's child.
"You poor child, you poor sweet child. It seems you have a very serious problem."
The man said as he revealed himself to her. She had been so unaware of her surroundings that she didn't even hear his approach. He had white, silvery eyes and the kindest smile she had ever seen. But then again, she would think that every smile is kind, given what she had just gone through. There was an air of danger that hung heavy in the air. She wasn't sure if it was from remnants of what she had experienced earlier or if it emanated from this man. Something told her it was a combination of both. Even so, she was not in the mood to deal with anything or anyone today.
Mood: Thou shalt not fuck with me.
"Today is not the day. I wouldn't advise the devil himself to fuck with me."
Octavia said as she walked away from the crazy person in front of her. She had had enough of a crazy day; she couldn't deal with any more of that shit. What she needed to focus on was getting to the authorities and reporting her grandmother's murder without sounding like a crazy person who belonged in a mental asylum.
But the police would have to believe her story, right? There must be cases like these all the time, right? His case couldn't be an isolated, one-in-a-billion case, could it?
"No one is going to believe you..." The man said as if he was reading her mind and knew exactly what she was thinking. He saw through her greatest fear in an instant, and Octavia wasn't sure whether she should be grateful or fearful. Octavia started to hyperventilate; she just knew that she was going to die. "But I saw it. The wolf that killed my grandmother changed from wolf to man. Why do you look like you believe me? Why are you not rushing me off to the nearest psych ward?" Octavia asked as the man walked towards her. His brown eyes gleamed with experience. He had seen things; he knew things. His eyes seemed a bit odd, almost like contacts. But that would be odd; no one ever wore brown contacts. And she dismissed the thought as quickly as it had come. "I believe you. I know that they exist, and that's why we exist." The man said as he continued to talk in riddles. "Who are we?" Octavia asked, making air quotes. She didn't realize it at first, but his presence actually made her comfortable, and yet she felt uneasy. She was the embodiment of a living oxymoron, but she felt entitled to her emotions, as she had been through hell. "The League of Assassins." The man said plainly as Octavia looked at the man who disclosed such information so carelessly. "You must not be any good. You should know, the first rule of bean club is that you don't talk about bean club." Octavia said as the man immediately picked up on the "Puss in Boots" reference. "Touché." He said as he settled himself on a tree stump nearby. "I can help you. I can make you strong enough that you will never need to worry about being weak or about being attacked by those monsters. Quite the contrary, they will come to fear you." He said as Octavia had to admit that the possibility of getting revenge on that demon who had taken her grandmother was as appetizing as it got. "I'm Octavia. And I'm interested. It's about time those bastards got a taste of their own medicine." Octavia said as Zyair smirked evilly. "I'm Zyair. You, my little one, will be the key to the Alpha's undoing. Let's bring those motherfuckers to their knees." Zyair said, but he would never guess how true his words would prove to be. She had become his queen, both figuratively and literally, and it was soon time to put their plan into motion. He took Octavia in. He gave her a purpose; he gave her a life. He taught her how to use her best assets to benefit herself and ultimately to benefit him. They had a training center where AITs (Assassins in Training) were taught valuable skills that supported their teammates on various missions. Octavia was the only exception to this rule, as she possessed the ability to do all three when the situation demanded it. She was the one who took out Aleksandr, an infamous Russian mafia leader who was accused of committing war crimes in the name of Vladimir Putin. The best part about her job was that no one even found out that it was an assassination. Just a little thallium under the tongue, and he was as good as dead. Never send a man to do a woman's job. Of course, the official statement released later that day was that the United States of America condemns any assassination attempts on the former president. The best kind of accident happens when no one knows about it. "You're ready." Zyair said as Octavia needed no explanation as to what he was referring to. She had waited her whole life for those words and this opportunity. She was going to become an assassin. Her first task was to become a mole in another species' pack. Simple enough. She was assigned to werewolves. Whether it was fate or just sheer dumb luck to be assigned to those bastards, she didn't know, nor did she care. All she knew was that she was supposed to make them trust her, and the moment they least expected it... That was the moment she would strike. She had learned it all, done it all, so now all that was left for her to do was to wait for the right moment. And her main target was, of course, the Alpha King. Killing the Alpha King wouldn't kill all other werewolves like in the movies; that part was a myth (go figure). But killing the Alpha would throw all the other pack members into chaos and confusion, just long enough for the hunters to pick them off one by one. That was the essence of the plan.
